Anyone up for a snow run? Day trip. BASTRDS did a run in 2018, got stuck in the snow and had a lot of fun. We don’t need to get stuck again, unless we want to..:D

I’m down for something in January. Especially after Mother Nature goes potty on the Sierras :p Should receive my new chains sometime next week.

I am right behind you. Remember mine’s a Porky Pro, almost close to 8k lbs. If not 15/16, feel free to recommend other weekends. Hopefully @GodlessPro, @831Tun @joonbug & others will join.

Tried to make it to China Wall yesterday. Started getting super narrow after Sugar Pine turnoff. Made it another three miles and ran into two huge duallys backing out.
The road was only about 8’ at this point with 6’ snow berms from a single blade pass. They said a bunch of Jeeps we’re up there and couldn’t make it any farther . Anyhow, gridlocked I backed all the way down to Sugarpine (passing a tons of suabarus and a minivan trying to get up.
picture is a few miles prior to Sugarpine.

Tried to make it up to Lake Pillsbury on Monday morning. Very rare to get snow in Potter Valley and the dirt road in at 2400’ elevation. Was only 3” of snow on the dirt road, but enough to take out a few trees. After 2 miles of the 14 mile dirt road, we cleared 3 small trees before running into these 2 large ones. Too large for us and had to turn back. F8219589-EBB4-4573-BCC1-588112FAC76E.jpg4CAC662A-294D-4DA7-AD10-66C1138EA96C.jpgE545BC69-65C2-4F33-B6EC-0C2EBF369A40.jpg

Took a trip to Spicer snow park and we pretty much had the park to ourselves for a few hours. Kids had a ton of fun. Highway 4 was closed down after Lake Alpine though.

That is mainly a snowmobile park. There is a gate about 4 miles up Mormon Emigrant Trail that closes the road for only snowmobiles. The other side of Mormon from Jenkinson Lake is where 4x4s go to play in the snow. I go up for day trips occasionally to play in the snow with kids and dogs.

So this is the start off HWY 50, depending on the snow you wont see much for 10 miles or so.

This is the order that is typically in effect during the winter:
    Winter Road Closure

However, this year the road is actually full closed due to the Caldor Fire. They are ticketing anyone $5,000 going up it. Here is the order:
    Caldor Closure

Iron Mountain sno-park was great. Used to be a ski resort so lots of open space for the dogs to run around. Not busy either.
