Many if not all these homeowner's companies do exterior inspections. Some ask about dogs, some don't either way they will find out if you have a breed on the exclusion list you'll be hearing from them!

The only breed I've ever had trouble with was Chow. It's the only dog I hate.

When we moved about 12 years ago and got quotes we were having a hard time with this. Companies demanded to know breed and if I just said “mixed” they’d push me to say what breeds were in her. My dog is a little over 60% pitt and the rest Rott and I think I said Rott first and a company said no. Then I tried “GSD” and another company said no. Did not want to give a breed you could clearly tell she wasn’t so I didn’t try Golden or anything like that.

I think I finally found a company willing to take “Mutt” for an answer. Dude actually gave the excuse that he needed to visually see the property real quick to come out and get a look at the dog. I guess she is far enough away from being visually an obvious Pitt that he let it slide and signed off. She is also on the smaller side at a hair under 50 lbs which helped. Most people expect Pitts to be in the 60-90 pound range.

Seems like Some companies will bust balls over pretty much any larger stronger working breed dog. Your poodle could be the biggest a hole on earth and you will get insurance with less hassle than me with my 47 pound Pitt that just wants to get in peoples’ laps and fall aspeep.
