After having my Tundra for a month, I would agree that the wireless charger is ineffective unless you are willing to constantly keep taking it out of the case to charge. I have tried a few cases now and none seam to stay charging. They will connect and start charging but as soon as there is ANY truck movement, the charge drops off...then might reconnect, then might not. Super frustrating. I am willing to take the case off for long road trips but not quick commutes in the city. Love to know if anyone has an iphone case that CONSISTENTLY stays on the wireless charger and continues to charge regardless of the road condition. Fair to say that I am disappointed in the wireless charger...but don't think Toyota is the only automotive company with a crappy one. Have heard from other buddies as well with theirs.

Curious if you guys are using third party cases or apple cases. I have an apple case on my iphone and I am not seeing any issues with charging. That said, I have only had the new truck for a week

For me, mostly 3rd party. I was about to buy an Apple Case but cannot see why it would be any different. That being said, interesting to hear your feedback after 1-months of use with the new truck...

I currently use the apple branded rubber case. Not saying it will " solve your problem" but I have not see any issues yet

I'm thinking the material of the case matters just as much as the thickness... I know nothing about wireless charging technology, but I would just assume a silicone case would allow power transfer better than hard plastic... Maybe someone with actual knowledge can chime in though haha...

I'm using a clear backed Spigen case and drove about 12 hours with no issues. You won't increase charge much but it shouldn't drain.

This is honestly all I really need. If it can atleast maintain my phones charge while running Apple Carplay, then I will be satisfied... Will keep a charging cord in the center console for actual charging needs...

Exactly, I keep a USB-C to Lightening cable for the rare times I need a charge.

    It's usually my wife who's on 5% :D

If you have an iPhone, I would get a mag-safe case - I have this one and don't have issues with any wireless chargers:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09JPK8X3L?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Benefit of the mag safe is if you get a magnetic charger, it obviously secures the phone as well which is ideal for a car application - this way it doesn't bounce around on the charger.

For a charger, I have done the same thing as many on here and run the wiring up the center console. This magnetic charger works great/fast and is what I used in the Tundra and home/office:

When I move up to an iPhone with magsafe I think I'll integrate a charger into the existing plate. I've pulled it out and it seems doable if I can find the right power source.

haha that was the hard part, had to pull the whole dash off basically. Might be able to be pulled out from the front but I don't remember. I'll be back in there in the next few weeks and will post pics if I do it again.

This is what I have also... Pick up my truck Friday and will report back... But again, all I really care about it maintaining battery life, not necessarily charging it that way...

I only wanted the Limited Power Package for the bed lights and AC power hookups anyways...

I use a wireless charger for 90% of all my charging and have for years. Both at home and in the car. My aftermarket windshield mount automatically clamps onto my phone and charges while I'm driving. I LOVE it.

The Qi charger was a must have for me in the new Tundra because I wanted to ditch the mount and have something more factory. I should've learned from how awful the wireless charger was in my 2018 Tacoma. The one in the Tundra SUCKS. The charge speed is an absolute joke. I stopped using it and am back to my windshield mount. The Tundra one will keep the phone at a pretty stable charge level while playing music, navigating, and running android auto. My windshield mount easily does this AND adds charge.

It's not a case issue. For whatever reason Toyota put in a super weak charger.

^^ I actually think the charge speed on my 2022 tundra is good, I also have a 2022 f350 that has a factory charge pad, it’s all but a useless charger, iPhone 12 with a fairly thin case doesn’t fit and charges at about 10% per hour.

It takes 60secs to take the wireless charger out of the console (once you've done it a few times).
All pieces come apart easily (you don't even have to take the shifter off), but please be careful with the plastic silver shroud that you have to pull towards you and out (it's very thin and seems somewhat easy to break).
You gotta look around for correct procedure to take it apart (if you guys are really stuck then LMK and I'll do something for you).

My wife wanted a more convenient USB charger location, so I added one where visible in the pic (12V+ picked up from the cigarette lighter plug above the dash).

Ohh, and before anyone asks, the black button on the back of my shifter is a "MUTE/function" button for a Uniden R3 detector (obviously modded for remote switch operation).
    Hope this helps a bit.

I see the small screws on the back of the wireless charger. Does that remove it from the black QI cover piece or can you separate the black QI piece from the rest?
If someone could figure out a customized way to integrate a stronger charger that would be amazing - and will sell thousands!

I bought a dual wireless charger, but when I make a sharp turn the phone tips over as the charger is deeper then then the divider. Is there an accessory to make the divider deeper?

Has anybody mounted a QuadLock charging head in a creative way? I'm not affiliated with the brand, but have used their case / charger system with good luck on motorcycles and in our 2015 minivan. Is handy to have phone secured and charging.

That’s a bit of an overkill. Defeats the whole purpose of simply placing your phone and picking it up. I used this Belkin wireless charger and just ran the wire under the console to the usb c plug inside the storage compartment. Even with the case on, my iPhone charges pretty quickly and has yet to fall off even with bumps

I am with you. My truck has the OEM charger so its pop the case off and use it, or plug it in. AS long as you have a charging option in the event of an emergency is fine. We never even had phones before and now wireless charging is an issue LOL. Just waiting for the OMFG I only have 4G

Exact same problem with the wireless charge pad in 2016 Tacoma. Constant disconnects. Even with case off.
