Trying to see if anyone took a bottle jack and set up a way to use on a lifted truck while going off road?

Looking for a cheaper set up than Pro Eagle. Although it would be nice to have one.

I see that Safe Jack has a set up. But the prices are almost comparable to Pro Eagle.

911 Motorsports has extensions but you also need welding experience.

Went to YouTube and some guys set up a bottle jack with extensions and a base plate to prevent sinking but they had welding expertise.

May need to save up for the ProEagle.... but anyone see the gas prices nowadays? LOL. Jk. I know I bought a truck be prepared to pay alot for gas.... also I may need to learn to weld. Seems like you need that if setting up off road vehicles. Or know someone.

    Thanks for the help!

The stock bottle jack goes pretty damn high. Jack off the axle or the A arm (I'm sure the frame next to the A arm pivot would be plenty too). Worst case bring some wood blocks. I've never carried any extension or ever worried about lifting anything with stock jacks.

Or just buy a HF floor jack, ProEagles are nice but how often do you plan to be using your jack?

    Too many, but not enough....
You can get a HF floor jack and buy the pro eagle extension and you will have essentially the same proeagle setup and save yourself a couple bills.

Cruzer mentions in his thread what he brings with him while off-roading. Even made a little case for it. It’s a 2 ton HF aluminum with pro eagle extension. I have the same one. Super light but also fairly capable. Could build a sled for it too if you wanted to use it a ton off-road

Yeah I have a bottle 20 ton bottle jack and wood blocks I always carry. Keep it cheap. Lol. I haven't used they set up yet and it's been a few years since I thought of it. I was in the middle of no where and needed to jack the truck higher and luckily I found a cinder block. After that I got the bigger bottle jack and wood blocks.

Anyone worry about the bottle jack sinking in mud, sand, snow? I know safe jack has a wide base plate you can buy to prevent that.

Did yours come with it leaking? Some of the reviews says theirs arrives with oil all over the place.

I had a wood board and now have the safe jack plate, its a huge plate that also use a stabilization when you have to use on uneven ground.

Did you get the 3 ton? Did yours leak in the.box when you received it? There's some reviews that some people received it like that. Thanks!

Mine did not leak. There is a bleed valve that if shipped open and the box gets tuned upside down it would leak some oil.

The Powerbuilt jacks, do they raise 18 to 21 inches above the height of the jack, or is the 18 to 21 inches counting the height of the actual jack?

I keep a 3 ton bottle jack in the truck along with accessories from Safe Jack. I bought the jack separately from Home Depot. I think I have around $120 invested in this setup.

    Edit- 6 ton!!

You able to fit this in the OEM storage compartment below the seat of your 1st gen?

I did a good bit of research on this, trying to keep costs down, but keeping safety a priority. I was about to pull the trigger on the Safe Jack starter kit, but then I found a video by that Robmotive dude, and even though he kind of gives the OEM jack some grief, I “stole” an idea of his. It was meant to only be temporary if I ever get a flat, but shoot, when I put a socket and screw gun on the crank stub of the OEM jack coupled with my homemade base, it’s lighter and quicker than my 3-ton floor jack, so I just use this with jack stands when I’m at home working on the truck. The second stage only comes 1/2 way up when the front tire clears the ground, when jacking on the frame rail close to the front tire. I consider it stable and safe for my needs. Running Coachbuilder TRD Pro set-up (3” left front 1.75” rear) and 275/65/R20’s (34.1” tall).

    (3) 2x6’s screwed and glued together, I used two bolts (instead of Robmotive only using one) with wing nuts to secure the jack to the base. Topped with Rustoleum Bedliner paint.

    Hey, looks like that’s a 6 ton, not a 3 ton :muscleflexing:

AND it fits in the storage space on the 1st gen… should fit in a later gen, no problem.

So, OP, it may be a better move to find a Jack with a small base, instead of this type, that I have to carry in the truck bed:
