Hello folks. I'm new here and have purchased my first Tundra. 2017 TRD Crew Max 1794. I'm in need of some extra hp to pull my 5th wheel. I have installed the Firestone Air Bags which is great but could use a bit more power. It seems like the oversized throttle body and cold air intake may be a waste of time and money. So I'm thinking about headers, X pipe and possibly flowmaster mufflers and possibly a performance chip. I would appreciate any advice you might have. I really want to do this right. Thank you so much.

Most likely a supercharger is going to be your best bet. A bully dog tuner and an X-pipe may be slightly helpful, but nothing will compare to the supercharger.

What is the pin weight on your camper?

You must live where it is relatively flat.

Keep the Tundra as a daily driver and look for a '99-03 7.3L Powerstroke. Should be able to find one that isn't all lifted and stupid for $10k-15k with varying degrees of less than 200k miles (just broken in).
Can open some air into and out, plus a tuner for another $2k and you can pull a wall off a house for another 200k miles.

Not trying to be an a-hole here. But honestly it's a better investment than a supercharger and will put less strain on the tundra as it sounds like you're maxing out its capacities if not possibly exceeding them.

I've owned both the Tundra and a diesel built to be on the high end for towing and performance purposes. I pulled the exact same camper with both trucks and the Tundra when it was in its stock form and supercharged. For stability purposes you've already installed the airbags. Keith at Dirty Deeds can discuss various performance options that might match your budget. I simply installed a supercharger on the Tundra at the dealership and bumped the hp and torque up significantly 504 hp and 550 ft/lb. The TRD Supercharger is no longer available as a factory option. However, the company ( Magnusun) that provided TRD the supercharger sells them now with everything needed for roughly $7,000. The install will cost you in the neighborhood of $1000-1200 unless your handy with a wrench. The Magnusun supercharger is good for 550hp/550 ft/lb of torque. Dollar for dollar the supercharger is the best bang for your buck. If your camper is over the Tundra's max load I'd seriously consider a diesel.

Very helpful. Thank you. Any thoughts on a turbo charger? I was hoping to stay under $3k

I have no experience at all with a turbocharger on the Tundra. If you went that route I think it would be complicated from a tuning perspective. You'd need to find someone that had the knowledge and equipment to tune it appropriately. Keith at Dirty Deeds Racing could probably get you an extra 65 hp or so for around $3k??

That is a clean setup. All too often I see trucks that just have so many mods they are almost unrecognizable. I mean don't get me wrong, I enjoy modding my truck as much as anyone else but sometimes it is best to just make a few mods...Never say this to your wife though! lol:woot:
