My Vehicle is a 2000 Tundra 4.7L Limited with AT and has a Access Cab and Rear Wheel drive. I recently purchased this truck.

I would like to see if someone may have an answer to identify a certain “box” that is wrapped with some vinyl tape (like black electrical, but more like heat shrink film). There are two white wire harnesses (connectors) on one side I can see they are not connected to anything, but I can’t see their wires from my view from below the knee kick panel.
This “box” is located under dash, just above and to the right of the steering wheel shaft. Located behind horizontal AC plenum.

I call this a “box”, but it is more like a holder for multiple wiring harnesses that are protected by this black tape/film it is wrapped with. This “box” seems to be open on the bottom and not a complete enclosure. Haven’t cut tape/film back to explore.

I discovered it while I was looking around to see if this truck is equipped with a keyless entry or alarm system, a brake controller or any other modules.

If any of you have any idea(s), please reply. I did find a wiring diagram for this vehicle to try to identify them before writing this post. The photo posted is a view looking up from the brake pedal with the white connectors to the right because the photo is rotated counter-clockwise 90 degrees. Part of the brake pedal mounting hardware you can see in photo.

    Thank you.

If I had to guess I would say it could be this "Junction Connector" I think inside the red box is the approx area you are describing.
The two connectors shown at the bottom almost look like the ones coming out of the side of the box in your photo. Hard to tell.

If this is it, its just a spot to "tie" harnesses or ciruits together. Not an actualy control module with a circuit board in it on anything.

That may be what it is, but I wasn’t sure. I will look into the wiring diagram schematics. Thank you.
