Can't agree more with the guys who already stated to absolutely let them know. If close to a dealer I would make an appearance and get it in writing that your unhappy with the way the transmission feels. Yes, it may get better but protect yourself.

Thank you for the advice. I have an appointment in the morning with the service manager. I can't afford to go without this thing at this point. I will have it documented and im hoping that he can provide options instead of excuses

This truck ,.. continued visits to the dealership over the shity transmission swap out , now the driver door panel is falling off and I can't snap it back in , the sunroof net the clips are a poor design and it keeps coming uncliped, the rear window switch has stopped working and whatever the rcta light is , it randomly activates, and top it off I'll need to bring it in again after this because it's finally due for its first 5k mile service.. toyota was supposed to be a sure bet ... ‍♂️

Take the lemon back and try and find a 2021 Tundra. Pisses me off that Toyota dropped the ball this bad on my beloved Tundra.

What a bummer. Considered a lightly used 2020/2021 Platinum with low miles? Problem solved for your contractor needs. Fingers crossed 2023 model year & supply chain is sorted out.

Reluctantly, I will have to say that after 47 years of buying Toyota trucks nothing has really changed except that we now get to hear of everyone else’s issue. (Thanks social media). I’ve purchased them nearly every time a new one came out (including 4 runners as well as all trim levels). I’ve only had 1 that had an issue. It was a power steering unit. Some may say lucky ??
I don’t think so. Just sayin.

out of the 13 or so toyota's since the 1980's (sig) every vehicle has had it quirks. mostly minor a few major.

new 84 celica gt fastback, needed a new transmission, engine was in perfect condition. sold to a person who wanted the engine for racing, could care less about the rest of the car
used 84 cressida, temp gauge i could thump with my finger and get it to flatline, thump again to get it to read correctly, never fixed. on a very hot day i could get it to chirp the rear wheels going into 2nd (slipping transmission i am guessing). replaced with a 87 cressida
new 93 paseo, heater never got the interior warm (nd winters)
new 14 4runner (current for me) 2 times randomly over the course of 8 yrs, the electrical would wonk out and shut down while doing 70-75, pull over put in park, turn off the vehicle and turn back on and everything was fine for another few years or so.
new 16 tacoma sport, the front right passenger speaker assembly would squeak. had to shove a toothpick to between the speaker grille and "A" pillar.
new 18 tundra plat (current for wife) the rear passenger seat squeaks during summertime, its rubbing against the interior body

would i buy a toyota again? yep in a heartbeat. all the other vehicles in my sig, i've had worse problem, especially the dodge avenger (brakes, rear end, transmission going out at the same time), hyundai sonata, fuel tank baffles sucked to no end. full tank sloshes badly had to get rid of it. got a legacy 3.6R before the cvt's came out. great car, just too dam low the ground for our ND winters.

Not to bring this back up but what was the final result on this truck. I ask because with 4700 miles on my '22 it now needs a trans.

Really sorry to hear that. I feel it, too. I had an Acura CL that needed a brand spanking new engine at only 21,000 miles. 4th and final Honda-made car I’ve had. All lemons or problematic. Never doing that again.

I hope it works out for you. It’s a truck made by man; it WILL fail at some point. Statistically, it’s rare for one so new but it does happen. Thankfully we have legally required warranties and lemon laws.

    best of luck

You’re getting pretty close to the legal definition of a lemon. There’s model year and design problems, and there’s lemons. Two different things.

Update. After the transmission replacement it was never the same ride . Repeated visits to the dealer , 5 recalls , Toyota Co. Deemed it a lemon but because I had almost 10k miles I had to pay 6800 bucks to get out or swap . Then the rear differential went at 11200 miles , sun roof deflector on back order for months (unable to use ) . The platinum door trims were falling off also on back order . Unfortunately this was enough for me I traded it in took a 12 k dollar negative equity hit and got a dodge ...smh manufacturers Date from Texas plant was Feb 22 took delivery June 3rd , needless to say loved that truck the color the tech package. But it is what it is LEMON the first of its kind for the 3rd generation tundra

holy moly, wasnt that feb 22 like one of the first ones off the line then?

if so, its seems that toyota really punished you for buying one of the first trucks, losing 12K is just wrong on that

Close too, what a mess, they wouldn't pull the new transmission regardless of my concerns with it shifting hard and elongated , they said it was "functional " and nothing else regarding that would be done ✔️ bye , I'd rather eat it than trade it in at toyota for them to re sell and make more money off of it.

No there is no noise coming from it. It slips from first to second but only when it's cold. It had one hard shutter at higher speed when I let off the throttle but otherwise normal operation.

why? Unless it’s going to be a twin turbo v8, but that’s not going to happen. Who wouldn’t want more power and better mpg(which still sucks)with the 22 engine?

Neither one of them own a new Tundra. One owns a ‘19 and the other owns a ‘17. Either they are mad they can’t afford to upgrade or just envious of all the new features they are lacking. Maybe it’s because they have an inferior engine and to the new Tundra.

It’s obvious anything produced on an assembly line is bound to have a defective one here and there. People think these assembly workers are the cream of the crop.

inferior in what aspect? Time spent in the shop? I bought my 21 in 21 instead of waiting for a 22. If I wanted neat features and a truck that loved the lift id buy a dodge. Not to mention my truck still sounds like a truck and not a lawnmower

so you care about the noise the truck makes not performance?

more people than not do, big time in 1/2 trucks. I pretty much did, but I test drove the tundra and it does well so Im just going to suck it up and go for nice and quiet this time, turn off that stupid ass piping in V8 sound they have and roll quiet.

I tested the GMC 6.2 V8 and was going to put a pipe on that one too for that glorious sound but the seats were phukin awful and the power boost broke down on the test drive so its tundra or nothing an they only have one engine, so TTV6 hear I come kicking and screaming, HA.

the 479 at 2400 rpm with the 10-speed behind it is pretty legit though, Ill get a platinum blueprint truck and color match it all, going to be sweet. Not so sweet saying goodbye to this old girl with the 5.7, there won't be another which sucks.

Since your Google doesn’t work I did it for you. Can’t see any upside to an older Tundra.
