I've built a few ARs, a 10/22 from the ground up, and done some in depth work on a few CZ 75s and variants. I'm pretty stoked to have picked up this Aero Precision Desert Mad Dragon builders set for only $299. It's good to have FFL friends. =D

I'm planning on using black furniture and a black 18" rifle-length barrel (prob .223 wylde) and a Magpul PRS3 stock and grip on this build.

This is my built 10/22 on a KIDD reciever, KIDD bolt and charging handle, KIDD trigger, GMB match grade bull barrel, and Magpul Hunter X22 stock (I love Magpul stuff).

Here's another Aero Precision AR I build off a limited edition Freedom Lower. That Cookie Cutter comp is the best part. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

And here's a sub $600 AR I build off an Anderson lower, PSA upper, eBay hand guard, AP LPK, Hogue stock and grip.. This one is good for carrying around the desert and not caring if it gets banged up a little:

Anyone else out there build? What projects do you have going right now?

I didn't build this one but did refinish the stock. This was a Waffen Werks AK74 that came with "B grade" furniture. I put some aftermarket black furniture on it but it wasn't long before I wanted to restore it to it's previous comm block glory.
    2015-07-11 18.17.29.jpg

After some citristrip, light sanding and some very hot water I refinished with a color that reminded me of commies.

I am fond of milsurp firearms. I have my C&R and I'm not afraid to use it. Here are a couple of CZ82s I stripped, prepped, and coated.

I have heard nothing but good things about CZ's.

Your AK....glad you went back to the old glory. Very sharp looking weapon.

You take pride in your weapons...anyone can see that.

They really are pretty great. The new p10c has one of the most amazing triggers I have ever felt.

I'm saving my nickels and dimes right now to get a Shadow 2. If you come across one definitely manhandle it a little.

I will see if there is a CZ to rent the next time at the indoor range. You have sparked my interests.

Have a few LPKs sitting around so figured I'd get started. Dont have a buffer tube and I'm not going to use a basic fire control group, so I stopped here.

    20170610_143515.jpg

I need to set my bench back up. :(

Ordered all other parts this morning (sans optics). Getting a Velocity 3lb single stage flat trigger... Now I get to spend the next few days in anticipation. :(

Love Aero's ARs. Quality parts all the way. Built 2 with 300 black and one 18" SPR 556 in multicam. Was going to buy that builder set you have for AR10 in 6.5 but they are getting a little too proud with their prices.

Have always wanted to build my own but was never taught or have the money until now...is there anything I need to know before I start buying parts? Or what is the best route to start?

There is a TON of videos on building these on Youtube. Start there, and use whatever search engine to find parts at discounted prices. Check out Primary Arms website, as they have kits and parts on sale all of the time.

I suck at taking pics with the iPad so if it's blurry...yeahhhhhh

Anyways, built the left rifle, PSA lower and rail, BCM upper, barrel, BCG and charging handle, magpul grip, stock, and sling

Left is a police trade in bushmaster with magpul stuff all over it

Both fantastic rifles, but 2 different uses...Bushy is the go to "work" gun and rides in the truck usually...BCM is essentially a range toy that gets brought out when I take others shooting

Found my multitool and got some packages. Everything is done sans optics. Probably going to pair it with a Nikon P-223 with Magpul BUIS.

Oh and the buttstock probably isn't going to stay there long, but I had it and decided to put it to use.

I would suggest a look at the Primary Arms 4-14 ACSS scope. Really good glass for the money and the most useful scope I've ever had on a 556 platform, more so than my ACOGs even.

Nice - I was not aware of this particular scope until your post. I've used a Primary Arms RDS on an AR pistol before and it greatly exceeded my expectations. The reticle on this scope looks amazing. I am highly considering it now - thank you for the recommendation.

These are my two AR builds. Iv built more but sold them off.
The one on the left is a 14.5 colt upper with a Vortex Strikefire II red dot and a free float m-lok rail.

The one on the right is a full Aero Precision build with a Ballistics Advantage 223 wylde barrel M4E1 upper and 15in M-lok rail. The scope is a Leupold 1.25-4 Mark AR MOD-1 Firedot sitting in a Burris PEPR mount. CMC triggers in both. Best AR trigger in my opinion.

    Fin.

@74TundraPilot , thanks for the recommend on the scope. I haven't had a chance to zero it yet but the glass is crystal clear and the reticle is amazing.
