I don’t think I had a DRL with factory lights in my ‘13 SR5 so grey wire may not exist in my harness?

About 8 months. Haven't had any issues besides the amber DRL thing.

emailed Alpharex to ask about the amber function and new harness on the NOVAs.
They told me that the headlight itself has been changed for the amber drl and it’s not just a new harness.
They said that the NOVAs I bought in 2020 don’t have the feature built into them but no info on when they added it.
Debating selling my 2020 NOVAs now to get some from the new sets.

Do you think there is a difference between the 2020 and 2021 Nova headlights? According to what I can see on your pic. We have the same year. So your saying that on the 2020 there is no amber turn signals? I ask because when I ordered mine there was no description of amber lights. Only found out after plugging them in.

If your truck is an SR5 model then our trucks are the same, mines just has the Trd pro stuff, the pros before 2018 were based off the SR5.

Probably yea, Alpharex customer support stated that the headlights internals are different and its not just a difference in the harness.
Not sure I believe it honestly though, companies tend to lie or hide stuff like that quite often to force a new purchase if you want the new features, not saying they are but never really know.
Someone would have to test a set of NOVAs from 2020 that came with the basic harness with no extra connection to the turn signal with a harness from the 2021 batches.
No info on when the new sets with amber drl were produced though, could have been towards the end of 2020 or sometime in 2021.

I actually do believe they’re 2 different headlights unfortunately. I have the TRD pro style version. There was actually a more basic version of it previously (w/o sequential turns) before it was replaced with version I have.

The same thing happened with the rest of the line up this year (Novas, Pro, & Luxx). These new sequential versions were added to AlphaRex’s website in the 2nd half of this year.

Oh nice, well guess the internals are different then. Also that helps give an idea of when the NOVAs got upgraded too then, guess they’re just not marketing it at the moment for some reason.
Welp gonna think about throwing my NOVAs up on marketplace to buy the new version as I honestly like the amber drl more than just plain white.

They are all listed as sequential turns on AlphaRex’s website now. It’s in the specs of each headlight. I like amber DRLs too, but the problem is that they’re too dim in broad daylight and kinda gets washed out by white DRL tubing. They only look awesome in cloudy weather and at night.

completely missed that, guess they updated the descriptions recently.
Yea the regular white DRL suffers from the same issue, they're pretty dim even on the "bright" setting with the headlights off. Wish they made them somewhat brighter so they're actually noticeable in the daytime and not just when its cloudy or dark.

My depinning tool came in today will update shortly. This is the one I ended up using. I would also watch some videos on removing wires from harnesses before you attempt. If you want to reuse.CEFD66EA-0186-4831-AB9B-19FFE789AE8C.jpg

Wire out here is the results.
Lights off. The lights are completely off no turn signals either. Unless you turn on the turn signals. Which would be on always. You will also have sequential indicators.I beieve that there was a mod to delete.

First turn FWD on the lever.
DRL white, side markers on and turn signal bulb on. Along with sequential turn signal. Note when I turn off vehicle the beep does not go on when I leave. I am pretty sure it used to but I have been drinking. Can leave the lever as is. Brights work.

Final lights turned on. Everything works including fog lights.

Nice, glad to see it fixed that amber DRL issue. But just to clarify, you’re saying that there’s no turn signals or white DRLs with the headlight in the “off” position?

Yes but the turn signals and the sequential amber turn signals will work.
Also here is a pic of the wire I took out. 47D07504-E5E6-4E9B-B38B-DDE9B02F3DAC.jpg9F4B3216-8251-4FFB-B210-3B165C2144E5.jpg9F4B3216-8251-4FFB-B210-3B165C2144E5.jpg

Thanks for showing us. Although I thought the amber bulb is supposed to always be off after the gray wire delete mod and should only function as a turn signal.

I’m gonna try this mod after I get the depinning tool. But I wanted to make sure, is your headlight still wired as shown in this pic? (With the stock gray plug into the black plug).

Just to clarify the amber light as a DRL is now off. Only comes on as a sequential turn signal now. Also yes I still have the lights wired up as the picture shows.

Take your time with removing the wire there is not a lot of room. I counted several time ps to make sure I was pulling the right one.

Mine has a yellow wire and I plugged it in to other yellow/only other fitting socket.

I’ve got to say these headlights are pretty sick.

An update on these lights. My passenger front headlight stopped working. DRL works, turn signals work and high beam. Called Headlight Revolution just to ask I there was a bulb to be replaced.

Customer service " Hold on a minute"
    Me" Ok"
Customer service " Your still under warrenty, we will send you a new one"
    Me"Shocked , fuck yeah"

Honestly was surprised used to companies at least trying to give you a hard time. The only thing I had to do was take some pictures of the headlight not functioning properly. If you want your headlight replaced before returning the old one you must deposit the cost. Which will be refunded to you when they get the old one.

I will update again when I install.

So have dim white drl and no amber when off.

I have no amber drl in any mode/switch selection.

I want just amber when drl lights is selected on switch.
    Thoughts?

Did yours come like the photo that is posted in #78? I received my new replacement headlights and the headlights are different. How does the back of your headlights look and which harness do you have?
    and no amber when off.

I supplied alot of photos here can you tell me which harness and what wires you have on the back of the lights? One headlight has the yellow wire with a couple of harnesses you can plug into, came with a longer wire harness with more plugs. The new ones I got as a replacement back of the light has blue wire with one plug, and much simpler harness without the fuse added to it.

I think that the headlights they replaced mine with do not have amber, in them. I think if I add the fuse all it will do is turn on the DRL automatically when i turn on the truck.

I will take some pictures of the back of the lights tonight.

I basically want the Amber to be on when I turn on the parking lot it’s like it does on my Tacoma

I DO NOT want to disable my amber light in center.

I cant remember but if you have the lights with the multiple plugs "yellow wire two plugs" you may be able to keep the amber DRL. But memory does not serve me well on this, I really just remember once the headlights are on the amber disappears. If you have two plugs then try switching them up and see what happens.

These are drivers side light. Other side is all taped up.

The yellow wire has a plug to it and it goes from driver side to plug to little rectangular box on the battery. Then from same plug to passenger side light.

The gray wire plugs into the fuse box.

The brown wire on the driver side headlight connects to the red wire which I believe runs to the passenger side light.

I unplugged the yellow wire and it did not seem to change anything when the truck light was cycled from drivers light off to auto to lights on without the truck being turned on.

my understanding is that the amber light may work when you’re driving a vehicle with a drivers light switch in the drivers light switch position?

    102181B9-BC31-4536-A5A8-91683E9BF2A6.jpg
    17425840-692A-4379-997E-76AF214F1DE8.jpg

so I did a test right now and with a yellow wire unplugged the white running lights that are on the outside of the headlight blink on and off when the light switch is on auto as I drive the truck.
