Sounds like prison food

 

So my wife is redoing the guest bathroom and laundry room.
Being I don't have a problem with the way it was, she is paying for it all.

New ceramic tile floor (installed by a contractor, the old floor was ugly linoleum), repainted (by a contractor), new toilet (installed by a plumber), new vanity and fixtures (again plumber on the faucet), and that is all done.
She paid others to do it, I don't have time and my knees and back can't take it.



She was looking at light fixtures.
The one she found had a small base which won't work because our electrical box is off-center of the sink.
The old one was 3 lights and 18" wide.

So she sent me links to 2 from Lowes asking if they would work.
Price, $111 and $160.

I said yes they would work, but it would look better with a 4 light fixture than 3 light being the sink and vanity are 60".
Seeing these were less than $160, I told her I'd pay for the fixture.
Hell, she paid for the rest of it.

So tonight she sent me the one she wants.
$350...
That's fine I can do that, but it's twice what I planned for.

Let's add this to my last weekend;
She and I disconnected the washer and dryer and put them in the garage so they could tile the floor.
The washer and dryer are on 14" pedestals.
When it came time to put them back in, she chimed up, 'can we take the pedestals off?'.
WE, she said....

I told her, you aren't going to like it if we take them off.
Granted she does 90% of the laundry.
But hell, I'd have to get on my bad knees to get anything out of either one and I do that at times.

So I take them off and she and I get the washer into the tiny laundry room on a dollly.
She looks at it, 'well now you can you see the washer faucet fixtures, I don't like that'.
Fuk me running, I told her she wouldn't like it.
She said 'Can you build a 7-inch pedestal to put them on?'.
I told her, 'we barely got the washer in from the garage, how the fck are we going to lift it up onto a 7 inch pedestal?'

She says, "can you put the pedestal back on the washer without putting it back into the garage?'.
So I did, layed it down and put the pedestal back on, but between us, we couldn't lift it back up in that small room.
So I called my most reliable neighbor Scott since I knew he was home.
He says 'I can come to help you, but just to let know I tested postive for covid a few days ago'.
I asked "are you sick', he said 'nope', then come on over.

We both wore masks even though I think it's all BS.
I had it in 2020 (tested positive twice in 14 days with not 1 symptom), he had no symptoms either.
Got it up and in, and told him we could handle the dryer..

Moral of this story;
After stressing my bad back (getting surgery next Friday) and bad knees I told her, 'we should have never taken those pedestals off, I told you you weren't going to like it'.
She said 'you're right, I'm sorry'..

In 15 years of marriage (this coming July 11), I've probably heard her say 'I'm sorry' 4 times.
I've heard her say 'you were right' maybe twice.

Our next house will have a real laundry room and not this pass-thru to the garage bullshit.

I feel the utmost empathy for you - and I share your pain.
Tomorrow, I’ll be running 100’ of fence to attempt (unsuccessfully I’m sure) to thwart the coyotes that have been slowly picking off our chickens one-by-one.
She has 1000 projects she wants done. Up through yesterday morning there were at least five different ones just for this weekend. But this one is now “the one”

Never mind anything that I might want to do…

 

Coyotes around here will go over 8’ walls so I’d go for the @ToyoMafia method of pest control and spend the money on ammo.

I'm 'off work' next week.
She has several things planned for me to do.

I've got a teeth cleaning Thursday and a lower back nerve ablation (going to burn the nerves that cause pain) Friday.
The other days are all hers, even though she will be at work Monday thru Thursday.....

I've been saying for years I'm gonna spend a day or 2 in Shreveport to play blackjack by myself, but I never do it.
I know she wouldn't want to go, I'll sit at a blackjack table for 4 to 10 hours straight as long as I'm winning or breaking even.
Tried it in Oklahoma a couple of times, but that every hand ante at Indian casinos sucks.
I finally have no debt except the mortgage, I can afford to go.
I just think of all the things that need to get done around the house instead...

 

Good luck with your nerve ablation. I had one a while back and it worked for a while but I eventually had to have surgery.

 

Not sure if you've ever seen these or not, but they actually work... I believe they are called lifting straps or shoulder dollies. I saw a couple of little dudes using these things about 8 years ago when we ordered a new washer. I was thinking I'd be taking doors off hinges, etc. to get them darn thing through the doorway, but these guys just put these on, ran the straps under the washer and stood up w/the thing like it was nothing... They were literally using their forearms and palms to turn through a couple of corners and walk the thing into our laundry room. I was shaking my head the entire time, and ended up buying a set when we moved a few years ago. They work as advertised. I believe you can get them at home depots, lowes, probably even Amazon.

 

Ok I’m down with that.

 

yeah - I know they’ll just hop it. But I won’t be able to prove that until the fence is there.
And it’s not the ammo. I’ve got that covered.
It’s catching the motherfuhker in the yard while I have the hardware at the ready AND getting a clean shot off with a good backstop (from my front porch, if it was near my coop I’d be shooting toward the neighbor’s place).
