Unfortunately Randy at XKOR didn’t give you a choice on options. I would guess it came as stock behavior. I have a 2010 Platinum that had factory DRLs (amber). When in the auto position the ambers light up. But nothing else. If I click it to the parking position the outer ring turns on (white) and in the amber stays on. When the lights turn on at night, the outer ring turns white, the inner turns from amber to white and the headlights turn on. I was under the impression that while in auto or parking light positions, the outer ring was on and in low white and DRL was amber. The only difference was if you hooked up the gray wire the outer rings would be bright all the time. Which I haven’t hooked up the gray. Hopefully this all makes sense haha. Thank you.

I understand, but that's not my understanding of stock behavior. The way stock behavior was described to me was the way the lights behaved on the Sequoia. Yours sound like they're designed to mimic stock Tundra functionality.

I installed my lights, front grill and a @xrunnerdude67 harness a bit ago but never got around to posting it. The harness is top quality. I also installed the front & rear TRD away bars, TRD skid plate and black housing led fog lights.

So I bought a kit from Mike over a year ago before moving to Canada. I just exported/imported my Sequoia from US to Canada and it failed the inspection due to DRL have to be on all the time. I reached out to Mike and had him walk me through the harness so I can make it work to pass the Motor Vehicle Inspection. With just a few snips here and there and tap in another, I am set!

Thanks @xrunnerdude67 I could have not done it with out butchering the harness all together.

This is exactly how my Sequoia works. I figured it was just because it was a sequoia. I was hoping that when in auto the full inner and outers would be white in the brighter setting. It is not the most horrible thing so I never asked about it. I would like it to work like a oem sequoia does though.

    Hey Guys,
Would this conversion to 2018 toyota headlight using the harness have any issue on the electrical system of the vehicle. We do a lot of work in remote areas and last thing you would want is that vehicle has some electrical fault because of the conversion. I mean if it was for city driving i would have not cared so much. Seems like a lot of guys doing did the conversion since in 2018, please share if you had any issues regarding the fault or if it kicked off any codes or how you guys tackled it. I am not a electrical guy, does the harness has a converter for halogen to Led's voltage output??

Side note - I had to replace secondary air injection valve, pretty common issue with Sequoias and Tundras with an aftermarket one as due to COVID, toyota did not have the part and I had no option as its my work vehicle. The aftermarket threw bunch of codes. I even replaced with original toyota once back in stock but even today when it goes below 0 celsius, the codes light up every time. As soon as the temperature is back up in the spring, the codes are gone.

    Thanks in advnace!

I have not had, nor read of a single other person having issue with this conversion using the harness purchased from the OP of this thread.

Thanks for the input. I was just concerned with any voltage difference between the Halogen and Led and how the harness accounted for them. I read somewhere on this thread of someone having the ECU to re-learn the RPM's after the headlight conversion (in the option where one would want "White Inner DRL's instead of amber and have to nick a wire under the dash) so I thought it's better to ask. Again, I am not a car tech guy especially with very little electrical knowledge.

This was probably because that person disconnected the battery while doing the fitment, which will erase the the fuel trims from the ECU the same way that it may erase the radio station presets in your stereo. They're unrelated though. Having white/amber DRL is determined by connecting (or not) a wire to another existing wire in harness. Disconnecting the battery is not required, just precautionary.

Thanks for the explanation and sorry for any Newbie questions, but i could not find answers to 2 & 3.

    1. Correct me if i am wrong, for both options 1 & 2. Outer DRL will remain white and Inner DRL will remain amber unless I do the wire switch under the dash to make Inner DRL's all white? And the turn signals and Hazards will remain amber regardless of the work under the dash.
    2. If so, how risky would it be to give it a shot and not screw up anything else under the dash for a non-electrical guy for all "white inner DRL re-pin".
    3. Do you think it would cause premature burnout of Inner and outer DRL's in Option 2 as they will remain bright all the time, if so, is it just a led lamp replacement for both DRL's or the entire headlight needs to be replaced.

    1. @xrunnerdude67 is intimately familiar with which option are what. I did my headlamps some years ago and don't remember.
    2. If you're not familiar, you might be best served by seeking out someone who's more comfortable working with small gauge wiring and to be sure the wrong wire is not being tapped. The wires are delicate and it's important that the correct one be located.
    3. I've never seen a vehicle with these lamps with failed LEDs. Having them bright all the time is their default function. Mine are on any time that the engine is running. If one of the individual LEDs where to fail, they are not serviceable, the entire headlamp would need to be replaced. These are OEM headlamps, and knowing Toyota, they are likely designed for the expected normal life of the vehicle.

Thanks for the detailed info! I hope someone uploads a video or at least some pictures of the process regarding the conversion of the headlights especially with the option for white Inner Drl's instead of the amber one. I am sure it won't be difficult to follow with some guidance!

To those that have done this. It appears that the holes in the under panel grill side dont align with the holes on the original under panel. What did you do there?

Obligatory “I finally got this done after sitting for months on the shelf…” post.

And of course, as soon as I finished I said I should’ve done this sooner, haha.

not as bright as my quad HID retrofit, but makes old girl look years newer so ‍♂️

thanks mike for a great product!

I would like to take you up on that offer. As I would like to come over to the "White" side. ;) Meaning, I want to switch over the inner DRL from Amber to white.

    Hi Everyone,

Just got the harness, looking for purchasing the headlights. Any suggestions? Sparks parts? Ebay?

Headlight are expensive so not very sure about ebay but any particular seller if any have previously bought from would be helpful.

    Thanks

I searched by part number for the best price when I was shopping. Here's a thread with all the part numbers for the black vs. the chrome (with pictures of each) and their respective part numbers. Part numbers for the unpainted lower panels are here as well.
