I purchased this 2007 sr5 used it only had 82,000 when I got it.The first owner worked at the Toyota dealer and he put rock warriors wheels on it. Back in January I had new rotors put on it in on all for corners, had the work done at Meineke, when went to pay the guy at the desk said something about the brake shield rubbing or something to that effect and they push it back and it was not a problem and to bring back if it did it again. Now I play my music pretty loud so I don't know when the noise started, but I pulled both front wheels and they are tight with no play in them and also took off the rear ones also, checked the brake shields and saw no rub marks.I then took it back to Meineke and had then check it over and they could find nothing wrong. The noise does have that kind of brake shield hollow metal sound to it but we see no wear marks, and again wheels are tight no play at all,i don't think its the bearings and they didn't think so either, what could be making this rubbing sound? thanks!

No lights are flashing and it makes the noise without brakes being engage,if you turn the stirring wheel while going straight, back and forth it makes the sound when to to the right. It makes me think about wheel bearings, but the wheels have no play in them, and Meineke check for that too,and the noise sounds like that thin brake shield that's around the rotor. Is it possible that Meineke miss it.Iam going to take it to another shop to get it check out.Any other thoughts would be great from my tundra driving brothers. Thanks yalll

That's just it, got the standard 285/70r 17 that come with the rock warrior wheels and we don't see any rub marks

I really don't think its in the rock warrior wheels, its something in rotors or brake shield, bearings or something.Anymore ideas out there?Hope to take it to a shop in the morning.

+2 on a wheel bearing. They don't always become "loose". Also, yank those brake shields back! They're pretty flimsy. Not sure about the gen 2, but my gen 1 was ALWAYS getting some kind of weird debris stuck up in there (sticks, small pebbles, rocks...you name it)

+3 on wheel bearing. I just replaced them on wife's 4R... they were noisy when turning, silent the rest of the time and no play in them whatsoever. Changed out bearings.. running like new again.

alternatively... it's totally the rock warrior wheels... you should replace them. I'll take them off your hands? ;)

Thats what i am thinking. The wheels are large enough to fit without rubbing unless there is a tall stack of weights in there or the sheild is bent the opposite way. Instead of hitting the rotor it is bent out and hitting the wheel.

Sounds about right. How many miles on her? If you have a few, I'd say replace them all at once. Save yourself the troubles later on

Edit: just re read first post. 82k seems a bit low for the bearings. Could just be a manufacturer problem as well. Hell...if it were me, I'd still change all of em
