    Pretty things
    Indeed.

I paid at least double, but got them from the dealership for peace of mind.

Seem to recall a thread where knock-offs were used and an electrode decided to let go and bounce around in the the cylinder. Rav4 or something.?

We live right across the street from Lake Winnebago in WI - there's a HUGE lake fly hatch every year. It's quite fascinating if you read up on it, but if you drive through a swarm of them it can literally coat your entire vehicle. I remember my first experience with them when we moved here in high school and drove through a swarm. I literally had to stop and scrub them off as I couldn't see anything and the wipers did nothing to clear things up. The last pic here is a radar shot of the hatch (NOT clouds lol).

Question for the group: changed the oil (overdue!) last week prior to a long (6-hour each way) road trip and upon startup, noticed a weird lower-pitched whining noise from the engine that hadn't been there before. It seemed to come from the right side (when viewed from the front). It was definitely not there before, and the only change was the oil, and I topped off the coolant as well. Everything seemed fine, and it did increase/decrease with engine RPMs. Almost sounded like a muffled police siren while driving (it was more obvious in the cab than outside, so I'm pretty sure nobody thought I was pulling them over).

I did drive it the next day and at my first stop about an hour and a half in it was gone and hasn't come back. I'm just confused as to what it could have been, and am hoping it doesn't come back.

Updated my suspension with Bilstein 5100s with newer springs in the front on middle setting and oem TRD's for the rear.
The swap took about 2.5 hours with two people.
Now, awaiting to get it to the alignment shop.

Got a pretty good deal on all 4. I didn’t realize TRD and TRD pro was different lol. Still kind of new to this suspension thingy haha.

Yea in the second gens had 3 different shock packages you had blacks which were the standard then the red and blue were the trd sport and blue and yellow were the offroad. All were built by bilstein I believe.

nice, did did they just unbolt or did you have to do any cutting/drilling? I'm going to have to do this soon as well. My spare is rotted to hell and I'm going to get bigger tires soon

Finally installed the light bars in the grill from where I removed the bull bar when I installed the winch. Took 4 hours this morning, but got it knocked out before it got too hot!393EB570-E710-43DC-9F00-25AC3E602D58.jpg

It’s just an Amazon one. I’ve purchased several off Amazon and they’ve done well.

12 Inch Single Row Led Light Bar - BEAMCORN Ultra-Slim [14in w/ Bracket] 80W 10000LM Combo Spot Flood Light for Offroad Trucks ATV UTV SUV Boat Waterproof https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R9Y2NXN?_encoding=UTF8

I had to cut out part of the grill and then mount these light bars from the side.

With light bar active, and eyes blurred (not from beer this time), provides an uncanny 1st Gen connection.

    Looks very clean.

With the hidden winch bumper, I had a hard time figuring out where I could mount a light bar.

I decided to go with these single row slim ones to fit between the grill.

I would have liked to have had one in the top of the grill like on the 2.5 gens, but they don’t make anything skim enough for that.

I honestly think I'd prefer the route you went over a "bulge bar" unless MAYBE someone made a smoked version to blend with the bulge better. But then light output would be reduced.

Yours still looks like is could have come from the factory like that.

    Dig it

When I look at it though, I see a mustache.

Not quite as much as the 3rd Gen horseshoe mustache for their front end. Lol

maybe a longer single row at the top or bottom wouldn’t give me that, but I liked the idea of putting them in the middle of the grill. We’ll see how it grows on me.

Much more classy than the Hogan Stash.

When the lights are on, you get the look of the sun reflecting off the center bar of a 1st gen. When off, you get the more open, "trucky" look of the 2nd gen.

    Best of both worlds.

have no pictures but changed out the chrome door handles and mirror caps on my 2012 Limited to color matched. Was really surprised that the paint matched perfectly to my 12 year old truck.

Finished wiring my DD SS5's up front and my flush mount DD SS3's in the rear!

As always, nothing goes as you plan and it takes twice as long as projected. Getting the wiring from the rear to the front was more tedious than I ever could have imagined. Not difficult, just time consuming with a side of bloody knuckles. It's a long truck when you're laying on your back in your driveway! I also ended up having to drill some sizable holes in the front fascia because there wasn't enough room for the large SS5 plugs. Not ideal, but the only route to go unless I bought new lights or a new bumper.

The Slurp is coming together nicely if I do say so myself :taco:

A quick mockup before the power tools came out:
    3.jpg

    Drill once, measure...after...?:
    2.jpg

Had to take a pic after finishing 25ft of wiring up to the front while laying under the truck:
    1.jpg

Stalked a Raptor - Slurp doesn't look bad next to one of the better looking trucks on the road:

Lights aimed and getting tucked away until next weekend:

From recommendations on this forum, installed my front hubs with Koyo bearings and coachbuilder tie rod ends. Well I didn’t install them, but had them installed.

Nice! I highly recommend using a prop switch for your lights too, if you tie it in after your canopies' light switch you have the option of the lights turning on/off automatically when you open your canopy.
