How are the maintenance costs on the Teslas? What happens when you need a new battery?

    @nobodyintexas $280/mo? That seems ridiculous. I pay $80/month for a ‘21 Tundra and a ‘12 Yukon XL.

Can’t really say. Many only go through tires based on torque. Pads pretty much last a lifetime with regenerative braking.
So just tire rotation and washer fluid for most?

A new main battery? Presuming it warrantied…

they have a pretty strong warranty program too.

    https://www.tesla.com/support/vehicle-warranty

I’ve seen Teslas with over 200k on them, on all original parts. They are aiming for 500k-1M miles

    What a great thread!

Tundra + Tesla is a perfect combo! We recently took both on a 500 mile road trip to Asheville. Supercharged along the way which was a great stop for dogs and kid to stretch their legs.

So the stories I hear of the battery failing out of warranty to the tune of $20k+ are mostly bunk?

I remember a bunch of people saying the same thing about a Prius—that the battery won’t last more than 100k miles and it costs a few grand to replace which brings your cost per mile driven up significantly. Much less $$ than the Tesla battery, obviously. I don’t know how long the Prius batteries typically last, but there are Priuses out there with 400-600k miles on the original hybrid battery pack.

I’m sure there are some out there, in fact I’m positive there are, but if they are warrantied they should be good. If not, they probably lived off of Supercharging it’s entire life and wanted it replaced when battery degradation was too low

Envious of your plaid! The M3P is a missile off the line or from a slow roll, I can’t even imagine an extra 500hp and 500lb/ft.! I bet that’s a hoot! How are the yoke, capacitive touch blinkers and lack of gear lever? I think those would be the biggest annoyance’s

Bumper to bumper warranty for 4 years and power train for 8 years. I personally don’t plan on owning it long enough to worry about a battery replacement out of warranty. Just a tire shredder!

Y’all got me thinking about the Model Y…weren’t those like $42k a couple years ago? The long range AWD MY is $65k now. $65k for a Tesla that doesn’t get to 60 within 3sec…ehhh

I think the standard one was back in the day. Don’t forget the sales tax and delivery fee if it’s not local to you. That $65k is now 70+ YMMV

Whatever this forum told me to do
all the yoke stuff is second nature now. it was odd at first.

it's like a big ass iphone with wheels. very intuitive. why does one want a gear shift? other than habit. The car is set to "know" when you get in.

it's revolutionary that the car has no knobs, switches, vents, etc. and when you ride in it - you wonder why you needed them. all of that on top of 1020hp.

maintenance costs = zero assuming we don't count the 2 rear flats.

which reminds me, I need to check the wiper fluid.

we are still trending at spending $34 for 1000 miles of usage.

one tidbit....when I get in, the car sets to my specs...which puts the yoke RIGHT where my pocket knife clip rubs the yoke when I get in ass first. now the yoke has a large scrape where I peeled off the black leatherette cover. I'm thinking a black marker to match color, then clear nail polish should fix it right up.

The turn signals and horn are on there. The horn isn’t in the standard horn location. I’ve heard Tesla will begin to redesign it due to annoyance.

The “gear shifter” is on the screen, or on the bottom of his wireless charger. What’s also nice about the S/X is let’s say you parked facing the garage door. You get in, and it’ll automatically place it in reverse (it’ll hold the brakes) as it knows you are most likely going to backup

They have two techs on it trying to figure it out. So far, I (well, new owner) has received new UCA’s and alignment on Teslas account.
My loaner (they offered me one since one returned today and shop is closed on weekends) has FSD, it’s pretty fun! They also said I can SC if all I want- charges back to Tesla

I have to say my service center rocks. They called me this afternoon after adding new UCA’s and alignment and said they can still hear the squeak and added another tech to prob solve it as they want it right.
Shop is closed on the weekends so they offered me a loaner. This loaner (mid range 3, AWD) has FSD so it’s been fun. Also, free Supercharging on Elons dime

So far, the buyer gets new UCA’s and alignment courtesy of Tesla

I had passenger side UCA replaced. I was worried they wouldn't work on it because I have aftermarket coilovers but they were good about it.

So Tesla replaced all of this under warranty trying to find an odd noise that they/I presumed was a UCA. None of these was the root cause. Any guesses?
