I ordered this in early December to get rid of the hokey intake plumbing and make adding a oil catch can easier.

Super Stock Induction System® w/Pro DRY S Filter Media

    https://afepower.com/afe-power-55-12541-magnum-force-super-stock-pro-dry-s-cold-air-intake-system

It's been on backorder, was supposed to ship this week, now it's late February.

They offered this at no additional charge:

Magnum FORCE Stage-2 Si Cold Air Intake System w/Pro DRY S Filter Media

    https://afepower.com/afe-power-54-8...e-2-si-pro-5r-cold-air-intake-system#overview

Seeing as I'm getting a few degrees above ambient with just the K&N drop in I don't really see the need for a full cai, what if any positives/negatives do you guys see?

If they're offering you option 2 and you're not out of pocket anymore I'd go with that

Yup, no out of pocket for the delay. (it's end of February either way btw)

I had a similar strange experience when ordering my afe system directly from afe. They didn’t offer me the better of the two systems. Covid had everything all messed up.

IF you can I’d get the better system and call it a day. But you might end up like me and canceling with afe and getting a third party from eBay to fill the order.

Afe and the sales people are flakes

Yup, afe direct. So far they are totally flakey.

    We'll see how it goes.

    Thanks

I say take the full CAI off their hands. At that price, no reason not to.

DAP seems to think there’s a significant enough performance benefit to the AFE drop in filter to include it with their tune, so I imagine a AFE filter that’s bigger would be even better.

Half the cost of the super stock us a TB spacer which is absolutely useless.

Asked if the 25th was still in the cards, how stupid am I??? 2 more weeks!

I'm sorry for the continued delay on this kit, we've been plagued with issues from our supply chains, causing material shortages. As of right now our supplier is delayed on one of our components however, we anticipate this will push out to the 2nd week of March.

If you would prefer to make a change or cancel, just let me know, but we're looking forward to getting this made and in your hands.

    Here's my response:

Can you see how crazy this is? It’s the money pit, 2 weeks every 2 weeks, it’s 2 more weeks forever. (Tom Hanks movie about house renovation from the ‘90s) Do you have anything for a 2007-13 Tundra/2008-21 Sequoia available anytime sooner then never?

I have the stage 2 in my CM and I love it. I had it installed with a few other mods so couldn’t tell you what specific/explicit difference or change there was between stock vs intake alone vs intake + other upgrades. But it sounds amazing anyway and does feel pretty nice when WOT’ing away…

Thanks, I did ask for the full cai, but seems they have nothing. Her response to do you have anything was what motor do you have.

We'll see what next week brings.

Afe directly is horrible. Cancel with them and buy from a vendor on eBay who has one in stock.

afe has an allowed number set aside to fill drop ship orders.

A single customer means nothing to them, a bulk supplier means $.

Hell I’ll sell you my super stock system!

    They are crap!

I wanted the super stock system with the dry filter. Took to eBay and started to send messages. “Do you have this in stock?”

Assuming you are referring to Autoanyting, I agree. The good news is this is a want not a need. I am getting a more expensive item some day and they keep throwing things in (first a cleaning kit & now another filter)

I have a drop in K&N right now so it's not a huge loss not having it yet.

Got an email yesterday, item ready to ship. I called and it was the tube. I said we agreed to the full cai with wet filter, she looked at the MONTHS of interactions and said yup, that is true. After a few minutes on hold she came back & said it's not yet available.

OTOH, the prices have almost doubled so getting the now almost 500 cai for 246 don't sux.

CAI finally came. AFE stepped up, upgraded the cai, threw in a second filter & cleaning kit I knew about & sent a bonus backpack.

So, forgive me if this sounds odd, but where is the cold air coming from?

Just seems weird to replace a system that pulls air from outside of the hot engine bay. I can’t see from the group of parts if you’re still getting air from a good source.

It is pulling the air from the same places the OEM box does. Inside the fender.

there is no cold air in Phoenix. It’s just not warmed by the motor.

I am aware the OEM intake does a great job keeping the intake "cool" (within a few degrees of ambient when moving)

Initially, I got just the tube to get rid of all the emissions crap the OEM intake tube is routing to. When there was a delay and they offered the entire cai for no more money I said yes, please.

The full cai has a much larger filter area so has to be allowing more air in/ offer less resistance, can't be bad. Especially for free.

I will post intake temps once I get the intake installed, most likely tomorrow.
