Bummer they won't be doing aluminum to match my current skids. Went ahead with ordered the coated steel.

 

This is what RCI told me, this is the only version.

The cat guards did just go live and are only going to be offered in powder coated steel. Since the steel is powder coated there will not be any galvanization/corrosion between the two metals, so you can absolutely bolt them directly to your aluminum skids!

For all you guys ordering, do you have the RCI transmission plate? It will not work without it.

It’s kind of ashamed that RCI is really limiting g the options on this, especially with all the other options out there. So far their limited to:

• Steel only and no aluminum
• Requires their transmission skid as well I. Order to be installed
• Only for 4WD and no 2WD

 

Yes we all know, I have full RCI skids. You would need the trans skids to cover the cats. If you only have the RCI skid plate, it wouldn't reach far back enough to attach anything to the sides to cover all our cats. Yeah I agree sucks on the limitations of 4WD only and steel only. But it's better than having to find a possible buyer for our trans skids, then pay another $500 for another companies cat shield. They probably only offer 4WD because they sell more of those than 2WD.

Many of us have full RCI skids and don't want to get rid of them. This solves the problem.

Yes. I’ve had rci engine and trans skids for awhile. Ordered Valhalla shields and almost the next day this post was created so I was holding off for these. My order was $230 with shipping.

Now I’m going to sell the Valhalla for hopefully close to what I paid. I wish I had just waited. Never even installed them.

Actually, I just looked at the pictures. It’s really an extension to the trans skid. If you ask me, it’s a fairly novel idea. I like it, but so wish they offered aluminum.

I have aluminum engine and transfer skid. Was hoping for aluminum cat guards, but honestly 12lbs and I won't ever see them, so who cares?!

Looking forward to some videos on how to drill / install these things.

I'm also thinking I should do any fluid changes before I mount them because I can only imagine how difficult its going to be to access the nuts on the transfer skid once the cat guards are in place.

 

Has anyone gotten confirmation for there orders being shipped?

 

Nothing since i placed my order and I was pretty quick on placing my order when they opened up the site.

 

Exactly, I don't get it.

I ordered the full set of skids. I was told lead time of about 3 weeks. Maybe that’s mostly for the main skids. Not sure if its the same for just the wings.

 

Placed mine on Monday May 16th in the late evening and received this email the very next day.

 

It might say 4wd models only, but these will fit 2wd models.... how do I know? Because there isn't anything different underneath that wouldn't allow it to bolt on. If anything, there is more "gap" around these wings without the transfer case.... which might be why they are saying 4wd models only.
