Installed tail light trim bezels

I didn't scuff them at all. washed with hot soapy water and that was it. depending on the paint you use would determine how long the finish will last, just my $.02

 

you could always paint them with krylon fusion.

 

Tnx guys for info. I might hold off for now. Considering and in talks on a retro of tails and 3rd. Obviously big difference in money spent and I still might come back to these. I think they def help those stock tails look better.
No offense here, I hate the look of our tails. I keep coming back in my head to the analogy of putting lipstick on a pig. Although it looks better imo, it still has the fault of whoever designed our tails. Although it may end up being pricey I think for myself I might be happier spending a small fortune to get some custom lights that no one else has, that look better, and brighter.
I haven't got a final figure yet on what this would cost so that could end up smacking me back to reality . But, nonetheless Jeremy and Chris thanks for the great info. I wish you guys and tundracollector the best with them. Who knows I might still end up joining you guys anyway with the purchase, time will tell. Thanks guys, awesome as always.

 

The day I bought my Pro I've been thinking of ways to mod the tails to not look so cheap. I think a thin LED tube of some sort would look good. I have an extra set of tails that I might cut open...

 

Good to hear Jeremy, same here. I didn't want to offend you with my lipstick on a pig reference. Same here, day 1 I got my pro I was like damn that's a badass truck but those big bright red and chrome tails look like shit. Not bright as in light output, bright as in I'm here and look like shit in ur face. I aint got the skills or time to cut open myself so I'm considering paying someone a small fortune to get em much darker but much more light output. For what it's worth, I think it def helps ur mod make em better, especially painting them. I'm waiting for prices on a tail and 3rd retro but just to start I know he got crazy money in just the lights. Who says money can't buy happiness. Lol

 

No worries, you didn't offend me. I think toyota didn't spend any time with research and development on the tails. They could have produced a kick ass LED tail light assembly.

 

Yeah instead I'm going to have to pay for it now. I'd rather have paid from the start. Honestly, the dude I'm talking to about doing does sick work. Guessing it'll b better than anything they would've done. I'll keep u posted if u want but seems ur more of a diy'er which wish i could. I am with everything else. Cracking open lights not my thing. Afraid I'll kill it in a bad way lol

Looks sweet! The truck was cheap, this site however, is costing me too much money.

 

I know right. Here I bought a pro bc I loved the look the way it was and was thinking some new shoes and a bed cover I'll be good. Well I'm just about to go over 10k in mods and already have another 3 in mind for a couple grand. I kept saying after this I should be good, now I don't bother kinda figuring sooner or later I'll find something else. I'm a couple week away from a delivery for a bumper, winch, and lightbar. Just a matter of the build being complete, delivered, and installed. I still want to do a custom retro on head, tails, and 3rd after that. Maybe a side letter insert and I'm gonna try to chill after that. Slow the mods and put some money into the house. I just quit smoking when I got the truck and replaced that addiction with a forum mod one. Lol

U guys are making me lean tlward doing this and saving probably close to a grand on tail retro.

 

Your should give them a try, fitment was spot on, they won't break the bank, and if you don't like em, it's completely reversible.

 

@15TRDPro Jeremy did you just use the bedliner in a can for your bezel? And how many coats? Holding up good?

 

i used rustoleum truck bed liner spray, picked it up from home depot. I put 2 light coats on and its been over a year and no issues, looks as good today as it did when I sprayed them.

 

Again looks great on white, did u do anything with your 3rd light to go with the trim?

So someone grazed my truck the other day, after assessing the damage and cash considerations I let him go.



It was a Ford and his taillight shattered from the “hit” but the surprising thing was this little bezel that offers almost no protection at all took the “hit” along with my bumper lol

It was a pain to removed even in its broken state, the 3m tape works really well on a clean surface.

So I took those considerations and reordered a bezel (took 1 day to come in and it’s on already) and will probably get the bumper cap painted.

 

Yeah I did, what also helped was that he got the worst of it but still had to pay up.

 

I like this look. Now I need to find a set for mine.

I was looking at these, just to be a little different. Says that they will fit. I would also paint them black. Just wonder how they would look on the truck.

 

Those look like they’re for a Tacoma.

 

I believe they are for Tacoma, other thing is when you find for tundra they usually come chrome or black. Unless you don't like gloss black you wouldn't have to paint. Good luck.

 

I know the post says Tacoma, but shows that it should fit the tundra. I have only seen these in chrome, so would have to paint. Guess I will keep looking, just thought that I would go with something different.

 

Just installed the bezels on my MGM yesterday after painting them barbecue black. Look real nice. Cheap and adds some character to the lights. Thx OP.
