Barbed razor wire coated with snake venom would be my choice. But since that's illegal here, I haven't seen much that cannot be defeated.

Hydraulics. Once they’re under the truck, keep em under there until 2nd gear or so.

Skid Row will be your main option, you need the transmission skid too. Better than nothing. I think I heard Valhalla has something for us in the pipeline, but not on the market yet.

FWIW, my Skid Row did it's job when I stayed two nights in Las Vegas.

    I emailed Valhalla and
Do you have detailed pictures of it? The ones on their website suck.

Last someone here checked, they don't currently make anything for 1st Gen, later gen guy. Curious if anything changed, I hate leaving the truck at the airport in the cases it has to happen.

He said he would need about 25 pre-orders to make a 1st Gen version. Didn't have the energy to pursue it.

I ordered the Talons Garage cat deterrent. Not cheap, but worth the peace of mind. . .and not having to pay thousands of dollars and wait six-month to replace stolen cats. Screen Shot 2022-05-18 at 8.45.35 PM.jpg

Can you posted detailed pictures when you install this? Super curious how effective this is.

Also, their website says it fits only 4x4 2004-2006. Why wouldn't it fit a 2wd truck?

Don't most comprehensive insurance policies cover this sort of theft? I would think so. I never worry about the cat or my tailgate and figure if they are pinched, I'll call Wawanessa. Anybody have one pinched and made a claim? Was it covered?

I think the issues with the cats is that it's nearly impossible to get OEM units right now or they are backordered for months. I think others have been stuck with inferior aftermarket cats.

Also, I think a lot of people don't have comprehensive coverage anymore. Poor choice in my opinion but my wife worked in insurance so we tend to over insure when we can.

They're covered, but they're not available and others have reported their trucks are sitting on dealer lots for 6+ months waiting for the repair.

I remember buying an ORFab cat theft deterrent skid plate for $160 back in 2009 for my '06 DC.

I installed the talons garage plates on grandpas tacoma. The little wings could be bent by hand, and we had to make out own security fasteners.
And i had to use some rubber pads to keep it from rattling, cause it was designed for a 4x4, but installed on a 2wd.

I ordered the Skid Row skid plate and cat con extensions, and buried in the confirmation email was this: If you ordered our Tundra/Sequoia transmission skid plates with the catalytic converter guards, they are currently selling out as fast as we can make them. The lead time on those can be 6-8 weeks, although we're working to shorten that lead time.
