it’s not a problem at all. We are all here to help each other one way or another. I’m glad that you actually did the work yourself. Not only does it save you money, it also show you how simple it can be to not be intimidated by it.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the Maestro RR and Maestro RR2, for our trucks in particular?

Are younstill happy wiyh the head unit over the 8600nex? Does the screen size or how it mounts bother you? Are you still able to read the info screen on the upper dash?

I’ve never had the 8600nex so cant compare. I am very satisfied with this unit it was worth every penny. Performance and quality. Never lag. I can still read the oem tiny display just fine the big screen doesnt block it at all. It doesn’t bother me how it is mounted. It’s a floating screen, so expect it to get mounted like that. if you prefer a flush look. The pioneer would be a better choice since you can custom mount it better.
the only gripe I have about this unit, probably the same with kenwood, is how it would completely turn off if you key from ON to IGN. I wish it would stay on during that quick transition so you dont have to wait for the boot up again. But it does boot up quickly though.

I'm right there with you....I love mine and have from the beginning. The floating screen looks good and I think most people wouldn't know or think this is aftermarket. In my opinion the new large screens in the 22 don't look nearly as good...almost too big and odd looking in my opinion. The stock head unit in my jbl was so bad I never looked back....

    Thanks

Off the top of my head, and I may have the wording wrong:

Settings, OEM Setup, Maestro Features, Maestro Settings, Accessory During Crank

It will still kill it if battery voltage drops too much.

This is a Maestro setting, so you must be using one.

I’ll give it a look after work this evening.

    update:
I Enabled Accessory On During Crank in the Maestro setting. Only tested 2 time. It did work. But it is true that if the voltage is low it will still kill the radio. Thanks for the info @19TurdPro

Here's my solution to the wifi-dropping problem on Android, found it on a Reddit thread.

Disable the first and last settings in your Android Wifi settings on your phone, see pic below:
    - Wifi/data switching
    - Hotspot 2.0 auto connect

Your phone is trying to connect to other wifi networks in the city. (I never had drop in the countryside, but _always_ in the city)

Im about 90% done with my install (1000xr) and RR as i could not find an rr2.
The Kenwood manual leave a lot to be desired.
Im having issues with the supplied mic, people say i soind muffled.
Here is a photo of where i installed it.
This is the same position i had with my Pioneer that i replaced with the Kenwood.
Is there a better mic anyone is using?
Im a bit disappointed that the unit is not reading my tpms sensors or gas tank.
How do i get the weather app to work?

Look at the troubleshooting section of the maestro installation guide for your truck. You may have to run 2 extra wires from the obd2 port to the TO harness. In the instructions it will tell you the color wires on the TO harness to tap into and which pins on the obd2 port it need to tap into. I had to do this on my 2017 sequoia. This is the only way for my gauges to show up on the radio. I made 2 extra wires and run it along side the single obd2 plug that came in with the TO harness.

The wireless CarPlay has been sporadically disconnecting the past few days, with a prompt popping up on the screen saying to reconnect the GPS. I have an iPhone 12 Pro with the latest updates. Anyone else having this kind of issue?

Good morning guys, got a problem and hoping someone is familiar with it. The battery in my 2018 died yesterday (factory battery, impressed it lasted this long). Tried jumping it a few times using another truck but to no avail. AAA came by with a jump box and I got it started, bought a new battery from the dealership and went home and installed it. Now the Navigation doesn’t want to work. I utilized the factory GPS when I installed the head unit. I also have these odd stats on my gauge cluster (24mi 28m). See pic. Wondering if anyone has run into this before and knows of a fix. Thanks!

Can you go into the headunit and do a factory reset or reinitialize the unit?

How many miles have you driven the truck since the new battery? Automatic reset takes up to 50miles

Nope, haven’t driven 50 miles yet. I didn’t know about this. I will drive it around and see if it works.

After driving around for a while (50+ miles), the navigation started working again. You guys are geniuses, thank you!

I have a DNX996XR, and I have to download and run an app called Kenwood Traffic by Inrix on my smartphone in order for the weather widget to work on the headunit. . (CarPlay or Auto has to be running). It gave me a free 5 year subscription.

Haven’t had a chance to make the call yet but I was curious about something: is it better to retain the factory GPS antenna with the Kenwood unit or use the GPS antenna that Kenwood supplies? This is the error I keep getting whenever I try to connect the wireless CarPlay…sometimes even happens when I connect the phone with a USB cable.
