I bought some Bilstein 5100’s and a buddy had some new 612 OME coils I got. I know the coils will add about 2 1/2”. My question- what is the best setting for the 5100’s with the coils for lift? I’m thinking I won’t go full extension for them, but wanted to get recs for the best ride with this setup. Thanks

Honestly, I wouldn’t mix OME springs with Bilstein 5100’s. They are stiff coils in general and the 5100’s are stiff as well. Unless of course if you are looking for that. I hated my old truck with that combination.

But of course ride quality is subjective…

OME coils run high, expect about 2.75 to 3 inches of lift on their light coils (advertised at 2.5 inches). Adding in the lift from even the lowest setting 5100 clips and you will be over 3 inches, which can be problematic. New UCA needed at that height and not to mention it will be really stiff since the 5100 clips will add even more tension and preload to an already stiffer spring. Go full OME or 5100s, don't try to combine or cobble the two together.

Good info, guys. Thanks. Would you guys lean towards just the coils with stock struts or the 5100’s with stock coils? Or the 5100’s on regular setting with the coils?

5100s are designed for stock spring, not lifted springs. If you want to run 5100s, use your stock coil springs, if yours are shot and need replacing, get some stock height coil springs from Eibach or look around and find some springs that were taken off when someone lifted their truck. I bet there are some in the marketplace here now for not much $.

If you want to run OME, run their complete setup, you can get the coilovers prebuilt so easier to swap and use their matched front/rear shocks.

There are other good options too in the same price ballpark, Toytec has several options and sells the OME suspensions too. Then there are billy 6112s and the 8100 series. I would also say to look at Eibach lifts, they have two setups- one with clip settings like the 5100s and then another adjustable threaded setup, the ProTruck 2.0 suspension. So you have lots of options that won't totally break the bank and will offer improvement over the factory suspension and gain you some ride height.

Thanks. Looks like I will just go with the 5100’s and shim. I’ll report back next week when it’s all done.

Stock for now, but have TRD Rear Sway bar for it.
Do the 5100's on the lowest setting. Toytec sells this exact set up. Although I would just do what people say here and do 5100's middle setting with CB shim, 2 on driver side and 1 on passenger side. I did that on my 2012 and it rode great and looked just right.
