Going to move the pasture in so there is less lawn, if I lived here full time I could keep the lawn pristine, one day though!

I’m in Anderson so you’re not far from me. No need to try to establish fescue right now-too much summer heat and the roots will never take. I aerate well each fall and overseed with a fescue blend and then a starter fertilizer. You’ll need to have a good irrigation system to keep fescue green and healthy in our area. I water every other day and starting very early around 3:30AM and when it’s coolest and evap. is low. I cut on my highest mower setting (4”) as fescue doesn’t like to be cut short. Water and sewer costs (if you’re on city) can be a concern. I’m not crazy about Bermuda, but it is more heat and drought resistant than fescue. I use Upstate Turf Professionals and Matt Davis. I think he told me he had a satellite business in Greenwood but I’m not 100%. If so they do a nice job fertilizing and treating for weeds and are very knowledgeable about all lawn care. Also, if you ever come to Anderson talk with Chad at Whitten’s Nursery. He is very good as well.

    @Badknees
Thanks for the help, I'm actually in Due West now so a little closer neighbor.
I got a couple of good stands of Bermuda (I think it is) and would love to get it spreading out and taking over. I battled the moles today, put out a pesticide for grubs, gotta take the moles food source away. I think those buggers are causing more harm to the yard than anything right now. I'm going to give it a couple more weeks to see if I get anything more green going then will call someone in.

I didn't ID the established grass correctly. Just because someone cuts grass for a living doesn't mean he knows the diff types of grass. I got some Pendington Centipede Mulch stuff and put it in my bare spots.

I'm going to encourage the centipede to take over the grass. The other side of the yard looks the same, just didn't get a shot of it.

Nice work! I was under the impression that centipede had to be plugged...guess I was wrong.

This is the stuff I used

I got about a full acre out back, I sure ain't going to be spreading that stuff out there. I'll keep spraying some weed and feed out there and see what comes up.

I think centipede can be grown from seeds or plugged. I had a friend who used plugs once and that's why I thought it was the best way.
    Your yard looks great!

Thank you. Fortunately I bought this place 12 years ago and only owner, done my best to pressure wash the concrete 3-4 times per year and keep the lawn up. Doing my best but I don’t know much about this stuff.

Not near as nice as most of y'alls...but a little front and back yard action. i've left out the bad spots since there's plenty of them:oops:

Love this thread, I'll have to dig up some pics.

Here in NC everyone has Tall Fescue, so that's been a learning curve for me. My neighbor's yard is dialed and he told me when we moved in that it would take a couple years to get ours right after the last owners neglected the yard. He even came over and cut the grass while the house was listed for sale. A few years ago the crabgrass completely took over and I had to kill the whole yard and start over from dirt. Fast forward five years and I finally have a lawn that looks halfway decent!

I love the look of tall fescue...especially once striped!
We built on this property that used to be all rice fields. The St. Augustine grows decent, but everywhere i've brought in dirt is a mess with weeds. The yard is too large for my budget to kill off and restart (2.5 acre lot with about 1-1.5 acres of stuff to try to repair). which is also why i'm on "God's watering schedule" as I'm not putting in irrigation for that much land lol.
i do love seeing others' yards on here!

I'd get a bunch of wild flower seeds and dedicate some of that land to a pollinator haven. Very little maintenance.

Ugg...in places I have extremely high winter grass die off (60-85%). The snow in the yard for so long didn't help any.
