I've carried at least one knife on me since I was in middle school. Even got me in trouble when I had one on me when I got in a wreck just out my high school one day right after school got out. There was a strict no weapons policy in high school. When I left school I put the knife back in my pocket as it was in my car so I didn't have it on me in school. I never carried it outside my house within about an hour of school after I got out in the back of the cop car. Although, now I've Been carrying one ever since I graduated. Nothing fancy just a no name on my wife's cars key chain and a multi tool hanging from my pocket.

Always carried a BM Doug Ritter Mini Grip which I really enjoyed but just got a Spyderco Para 3 and so far I'd say it's probably the closest thing to a perfect EDC...

Just arrived....this Adamas is one fine no BS daily carry. So glad a portion of the proceeds of this purchase go to support to the Rangers and their families of the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Would have loved this Fighting knife when I was deployed years ago, now I will enjoy it as my EDC.

I've carried a pocket knife for as long as I can remember. My current carry knife is a Case but I've had several different brands. I would be completely lost without one. I use it every day. It is not a weapon, it is a tool! I also collect knives and currently have around 100. Some are hunting knives and some are multi-use and some are just plain pocket knives.

I've been carrying a knife on me for as long as I can remember. I would always put my good knives away because I was afraid of losing them. So I was at Cabelas one day and an associate was showing me knives from the display case. I was looking at a Benchmade Griptilian and he asked if I was familiar with Benchmade's locking system. I told him I was because I have a 940 Osborne at home. He then asked why is it at home? My reply was it's too good of a knife to risk loosing. He looked me dead in the eye and said, "it's too good of a knife not to carry" on the ride home I got to thinking about what he said and he's right. So now I rotate between the 940, Griptilian, &and a Spyderco. I feel the same way with my firearms now. They are tools and they are made to be used. Lots of craftsmanship goes into a fine tool. It's really a disservice to put them on a self, both to the tool and to yourself.

I've probably also carried since I was 10, now 60, and having a knife at school then wasn't given a second thought. I've carried all brands, but for many years, I've carried a Stanley 10-049.

I love knives and have probably more than 50.
My knife life followed a path very similar to OP's:
I got my first Victorinox Swiss Army knife when I was 7. It was a basic 2-blade knife. Surprisingly, I carried that to school with me every day (and never hurt anyone with it - imagine that!) and I still have it.
Then in my teens it was the McGyver swiss army knives (Victorinox and Wenger). I collected a bunch of them; every new one a little bigger until I had the biggest one available at the time. That thing was about 2 inches wide. Sadly a lot of those got stolen or lost.
Also went through the switch blades, but the swiss armies always continued to be my every day carry all the way through college.
Recently I had to go to government buildings too often for meetings and could not continue to carry anymore (had to run back to the car too many times to go put the knife away), so I just keep a knife in easy reach everywhere - several multi tools in vehicles, office desk drawer, kitchen, bedroom etc.

When I do carry on me it is usually a Kershaw. For some reason I have a real liking for them - feels like good value for the money - cheap $30 (made in China) ones through $70ish made in USA ones are a good price point for me where I get a good enough blade for everyday use, but not breaking my heart if I lose one.

I have carried a Swiss Army, was Wenger, now it's branded under Victorinox, with a set of nail clippers for a little over 10 years. Before that, it was the simple Swiss Army with blade, file, scissors and a pair of nail clippers since graduating high school in 99. I started carrying an extra knife about 8 years ago. It's rotated between a small Buck knife, Gerber Paraframe full and mini, and now is a cheap Kershaw b/c it's got some significance with where I am in life. And, it's got a bottle opener, so, bonus!

    Cheers!

I also have a few knives from my Dad. That's where I got my love for knives from, so those will always be very special.
