Hi guys, just wanted to start a thread to document my build progress. The truck is a 2022 Tundra Limited TRD Offroad crewmax with the 5.5 foot bed.

Follow my progress on IG @montera.built
Here's my YouTube link that I'll be trying to post to weekly! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC89Tf_cTbrKZ6cUnpCLtRQw

Burger Tuning JB4, Throttle Tuner, Blow Off Valves
Garmin PowerSwitch wired by Blaze Offroad
    Tourtop Bed Topper
    4x4 Colorado Alto Mini
    Charvonia Designs Billet Tie Downs

    In the works:
    CBI Offroad rear bumper

I'm based in Denver, CO and got my first Toyota about 4 years ago when I purchased my 2016 4Runner SR5 so I could have a vehicle more capable to take in the mountains, mostly for snowboarding. Well I went wheeling for the first time and the mod bug took over. I've extensively modified the 4Runner, but in the end I made it a little undrivable in the steep Colorado hills, hence the need for the Tundra.

    As the 4Runner sits:

I have a lot of fun stuff in the works for the Tundra, thanks for following along and I'm excited to share my adventure with you!

The day I picked her up from the dealership mid February. Fell in love immediately. The color, the powertrain, the interior, 3 months later and I still have no complaints.

That day I took it straight to my buddy’s shop for some tint to match the rear, and I added a little touch with the grille decals from TVD Vinyl.
    D829A65D-71F0-4177-89F6-F36826DC441D.jpg

Took all of 400 miles on the truck to realize the stock tires are garbage. Figure if I’m going to upgrade mind as well jump to 35’s. Insert my RRW RR7-H wheels, 17x8.5 0 offset with Goodyear Duratracs in 315/70 (35’s).

I was able to fit these at the time with no lift by just removing the huge block of metal behind the fender liner. No rub and the truck drove absolutely great with the bigger/better tires.

My plan is to eventually upgrade to Fox 2.5 DSC’s when they’re released but I couldn’t wait to get it into a leveled stance. Added the Rough Country 1.75” front spacer next
    33A535B7-63C5-407E-961C-20E4CCA6C26E.jpg

Much better! And the truck still drives like stock which I love.

Up next came my collab with RCI Offroad here in Loveland, CO. They used my truck to bring some exciting stuff to market. We started with their full skid package. Engine, transmission and transfer case skid with their catalytic converter guards.
    924BA8E3-CA73-49A4-92B5-B45FCCDD2580.jpg 78FDF92B-33FF-4214-820E-E62F8FAA786D.jpg 373097E4-58A1-48C5-8600-F7FFD4A543DF.jpg

Can’t recommend RCI enough. Their facility is absolutely incredible and their products speak to that. Up next we’ll be prototyping sliders, a gas tank skid and rear diff skid so stay tuned for that!

Next I decided to color match the silver front and rear bumper pieces and had a buddy wrap the window trim and door handles to get rid of the chrome. Also added the OEM Toyota emblem covers and tailgate decals.

Are there not restrictions to how much I can type in a single post? My bad if not, the 4Runner forums are that way so I just assumed they all are. This will eventually be a pretty extensive and lengthy build and don't want people to have to scroll through pages just to find something.

Added some ditch lights to the mix. Brackets are from M&R Automotive utilizing Baja Designs Squadrons. The brackets are pretty damn flimsy so I’ll be swapping to something different when more options hit the market. Also swapping to Diode Dynamics for future lighting.

Lighting is controlled with the new Garmin Powerswitch that I absolutely love. All controlled by the app and no wires needing to be passed through the firewall. I don’t have any pics currently but I’ll edit this post and update.

Decided to make the jump to 37’s a couple weeks ago. And damn does this truck need those meaty tires underneath it. Looks so much better and proportionate. 1DA67586-2479-4934-A882-DDAD9214ED6F.jpg87D54FB1-EFEC-4556-A1A9-1B75F3F91B49.jpg F5DF12D5-870D-4231-B81B-66724DF359D6.jpg

Wasn’t able to enjoy it more than a week or so before it headed off to another local fab shop for some goodies… Stay tuned this is gonna be wild.

Shit.... this is a good looking '22!! I haven't been a fan of the new style but what isn't to like about what you have done! You have definitely made a good looking truck!

Hopefully the pup is enjoying it as well

I actually took the front end apart and painted it myself. It's not a perfect match so I'll likely redo it down the road, though.

Thanks! I wasn't sure at first but this bronze is such a beautiful color.

    Appreciate it!!

Thanks man! Glad I could sway your opinion a little bit haha. The pup definitely enjoys it! Loving that the back window still rolls down like the 4runner.

The truck spent a little over 3 weeks at Lil B’s Fabrication here in Colorado. Brian is an incredible fabricator and lucky for me, had the same vision for how we wanted this bumper to turn out. We wanted to be the first hybrid style while retaining the OEM hints of styling. I think he knocked it out of the park with this one. Also switched the lighting to Diode Dynamics and couldn't be happier. They have plans to release a 10" light bar in the future so the Baja Designs lightbars will be getting switched out eventually. These DD lights seem to be really high quality and so far I'm very happy.

Truth be told I wasn't completely sold on the Army Green but I'm so glad I bit the bullet and did it. The Toyota website does not make that color look very flattering.

    very nice !
37" on a spacer lift ? when you cycle the suspension off road does it clear the big tires or did you cut a lot of the body already ?
did you get on the RRW GB as well ?

He's an awesome fabricator! He did mention he wants to work his was into 2nd gens!
Shoot do you guys accept 3rd gens haha
Unfortunately I need someone to release some aftermarket bump stops or with my offset I'll destroy the fenders. So I'm currently waiting on that. I've done quite a bit of cutting already but I plan on taking it offroad in the near future to see where I need to trim more. The goal is to be able to fully wheel this thing with no rubbing.

Also planning on going with a proper suspension. I knew I'd be going full Fox or King so I just went with the cheapest option to fit some tires until some kits were released. I saw King dropped their full suspension but I'm waiting on some travel specs first.

Those ATs rock on that rig. Great look!

I was looking for that tire in 37s on an 18" wheel and they don't have them but it looks like they have them for 17s

I absolutely love them. I wanted them initially but they were backordered for months. I called my local 4WP to check one day and lucky for me they had just received their shipment. Pretty sure they sold out in a day.

This is the first I've heard of Garmin entering the wireless accessory control game. Looks really good. I am heavily leaning towards the Trigger because I don't like the idea that my phone could die or not be with me and I'd not be able to run my lights etc.

Garmin is a trusted name and I love how small the box is. Gonna have more to think about.
