I’ve not found a way for newer Tundras, they changed the TPMS circuitry in newer models and I don’t think the methods discussed here work anymore on newer Tundras.

    A poem to Toyota :::

    Good bye Orange Light,
    Good bye Orange glow,
A HUGE Thanks to all of those who came before me in this post, MyTPMS light is finally OUT !
I am good to go !!!

Well I took a leap and attempted this and so far of no regrets. The first attempt did not work, the posi taps I used were a bit too big and never poked through the wires. I had bought a variety pack and used the mini ones (see pic - the 2 smallest ones on left side of pkg) the only thing I did different was I used 2 posi taps, since these wires are so fine (and fat fingers which might lead to having stripping the light green) I figured I would poke (tap) each of the wires ( 5 & 6 pic) in the harness, I still cut #5 light green after I tapped it. Then I just had a small piece of wire go between the 2 positaps. Presto, all fixed.

Seriously Toyota, as one person said, we can disable air bags with a switch, why not the TPMS.

    Thanks everyone for your help.

Completed per these instructions today. Easy as can be. No need to remove any trim if you don't mind working on your back.

Took 10 minutes and only required wire strippers, and electrical tape.

Next up is the seat belt chime...

I just took a long, frustrating gander at the wiring on my 2017 and can make hide nor hair of which plug I’m supposed to be looking at behind the passenger kick panel.
Anyone out there done this kid to their 2017 and have some insight?
Had new tires put on last week at the nearest decent shop (2hrs away) and the stupid light came on about 20 miles into the drive home.
    I’m attaching a pic…

    Edit:
Is this the right plug? I’m a welder, so my fingers are all jacked up, I know.

Also, there is what looks like speaker wire spliced into on of other blue wires in the same plug. I wonder what the previous owner was up to….?

    Hey there SpottedDog.
Yep looks like that's the right connector. So the way your holding it, the 2 wires on the rights side, yellow and light green are the 2 wires your after. As I had posted above mine was a 2015. You wanna cut the light green and tap light green into the yellow. Look back at previous posts and pictures and you will see the way people have done it. Not sure what's up tapping that blue wire. There was a schematic of the wiring in a post way back which may tell you what the blue wire is. As always, this is at your own risk, seems to work and was fine on my 2015 model 1794. Good luck !!!

Not sure if this may help too, I wrote down how and why this was done and put it in with my manual. Not planning on selling truck but figured I would document it.20220830_211530.jpg

I found that as well no posi taps anywhere..... what gives they are great. I ordered mine through Crutchfield- car stereos. As mentioned I used the smallest ones in the multipack. Tried a medium size first but just seemed the piercing point that taps the wire was too big on that one. When i started truck and light was still on i was like ahhh @#$%, what went wrong. Then whenni disassembled te connection it was obvious it didnt pierce. The smallest ones worked best for me, although a bit tougher for the large hands. Good luck with it.

Sweet, glad to hear it worked out. Toyota is an awesome truck builder (well when they made the 5.7L) but the TPMS system totally blew.

when I did this to mine I found a wire tapped into that blue wire as well. I’m curious as to what it’s for as well. Anyone know?

I think this is the wire diagram for it, but I'm not sure what SIL stands for, assuming I'm looking at the correct wiring diagram

    Screen Shot 2022-09-09 at 6.55.21 PM.jpg

This pic might show that wire having something to do with the transponder key?

that’s what I was thinking. I had one installed but for some reason was thinking that wiring was there before that, guess it wasn’t and it is for a signal for remote start

Ahhh, good call on that. I remember now when I installed my remote start from X-START. I had to run a harness from ignition across to tpms unit. That plugged into the tpms, then the harness we have altered plugged into the new remote harness. Make sense, see collectively we can solve any issue or.make it alot worse. Lol. Glad we have this resource to solving this stuff. Cheers

So is this located in the passenger footwell? I’m gonna tackle this soon since I don’t run sensors

It is located up behind glove box. You will know your in the right area when you see the bright yellow wiring from the airbags. Do not touch those. Tpms is a small little grayish box with wiring harness. Refer to previous posted pics in this discussion. It's worth reading all the posts before starting. Good luck.

tackled this yesterday. my TPMS warning light is off!

thank you to everyone here that provided info on how to do this!

the tip to use posi-taps was a especially helpful - i'd never used them before.

the only real difficulty (other than contorting myself to do the work from the passenger foot well :eek2:) was stripping the light green wire. my wire stripper wouldn't handle a wire this small and had to resort to using a box cutter blade.

appreciate all of the knowledge on this site - thank you!

Hey Glad it worked out for you. It's a huge sigh of relief when it's done. I had same issue with green wire too so I positaped it as well and just ran a bigger guage of wire between the 2 positaps. If ever I want want to restore to original set up, I will just undo positap on the yellow wire and tap the end of the green wire that I cut then it's restored.

Happy cruising without the yellow dash light !!!

i didn't remove the glove box, just the trim piece below it. i suppose removing the glove box would give you more room to work, but i was lazy and didn't want to pull off any more bits than i had to:D
it'll be obvious once you crawl in there and look up - i can take a photo of that bit if you need more info. good luck

I only removed the lower trim piece under the glove box as well. Honestly you should be able to do it that way. I'm a big guy and was successful just with the seat pushed back out of the way. Having a good light is very helpful too. Good luck !!

I wanna send BIG HUGE THANK YOU to all those who contributed to this thread. I just did it, and it works like a charm! (2016 SR5)

My wiring looks exactly like @CaptRussia253 's pics in post #164, except I didn't use the big red connector like he did. I just scraped some insulation off the yellow wire and wrapped the light green wire around it. I came at it from underneath, not through the glove box, and the access panel is easy. No single-use plastic rivets to deal with.

FWIW, I had my sensors in a "pipe bomb" and that method was working fine. But I like this better for several reasons.

    THANK YOU!!

Funny, I was just thinking about Grasshopper and the pebbles yesterday. What a great show. And what an ignominious death for David Carradine. :(
