My appointment is next week as well, but i know they're not going to have a fix for it though. I'm really just wanting a history of the issue started on my truck.

So an update. I filled up my tank and 50km later disconnected the battery for 15 seconds and reconnected.

Driving this morning I noticed the needle is dropping. Need to put more miles on for a significant drop (want to see it go below 3/4) but If it’s anything it’s electrical circuit related.

Yeah, that's the dealerships first fix is the battery disconnect. It's come back so far for everyone that's posted about it after the battery disconnect.

Ya I’m not holding my breath it’s a fix but now that it isn’t doing it I’m not sure what they will diagnose at this time.

will just have to wait and see if/when it comes back I guess

So I had the issue one time on the second tank of gas I disconnected the negative battery terminal and it reset and I haven’t had the issue since. I currently sit at 3900 miles and counting as I drive it every day

I've had this issue pop up a few times now, 1300 miles on my Tundra. Yesterday my tank was showing full again and I knew it wasn't. Disconnected/reconnected the negative battery terminal and the gauge now reflects a half tank. I will monitor and report back but the advice on the forums is on point!

The other day I had a half a tank. I was driving on some somewhat steep gravel roads when my fuel gauge reset to a full tank. Been fine after filling up again but slightly annoying. That’s my second fuel gauge error in 4K miles.

Well came back for me but differently.

had a Low tank, filled it up, and the gauge didn’t move. Then i backed up my driveway and it went full. Driving around it appears to be functioning right.

Got an appointment to get it looked at

So far so good after I removed the neg battery terminal. Went through 3/4 of a tank and the gauge didn't reset back to full anytime during that where historically it would have. Put $30 in yesterday to bring it above a half tank and to see what the gauge reflects- no issue.

I experienced the fuel gauge issue intermittently the first few fill ups, which I did at around 1/2 a tank. I've got around 700 miles on the truck and it seems the fuel gauge is cooperating for now.

Mine is going in for service tomorrow. I just want to report the issue so that if there is an issue determined by Toyota I have a greater probability of being contacted for a fix

My gas gauge wasn’t going down, I took off the gas cap to burp the tank if it was vapour locked and the gauge is going down now. :notsure:

Dealer just called me back about servicing my erroneous fuel gauge. I suspect they did a system reboot whether that was by pulling the battery or some other way as others talked about. There's a service recall out there recently for the PVM or backup cameras potentially not working due to a software glitch, and they updated my software and said the fuel gauge is now correct. That may have been some type of reboot. They said if it happens again bring it back and they'll start a case with Toyota on it.

So my gas gauge issue resurfaced once again. I did a negative battery disconnect a few weeks back and all was good for a few tanks. Parked my Tundra Saturday night with less than 1/2 tank, started it up Sunday and it was showing full. Did another negative battery disconnect. Took before and after and sent these pics to the service manager at Toyota yesterday-waiting for next steps.IMG_7960.jpg IMG_7963.jpg

It would be really nice if it was a software glitch and a flash is all that's needed.

Had mine at the dealer yesterday and they said the computer found an error and all that was needed was a flash.

    fingers crossed this does it.

Mine did that the first few fill-ups. It has since stopped doing it completely. I was ready for it based on all the posts I had read prior to picking up my truck, so I took note what the remaining miles were on the tank and the the current MPGs. I don't have the numbers on me right now, but the miles remaining when I turned it off had increased when I started the truck the next morning with the fuel gauge going back up to full from the 3/4 tank it was the night before. The ending mileage was pretty close to the what it had updated that morning after the gauge went back up. The same thing the second time and now the miles to empty has matched pretty close after fill up to the next fill up and the gauge no longer changes after I park for the night.

There is a software update coming for the fuel gauge issue. There is no release date right now, but it is in the works.

The condition happens most commonly when the vehicle is parked on a slight incline or decline.

    Awesome.

If you find out when it comes out please let us know.

This is one of the many reasons why I didn't mind getting a 22.

That’s for sure! I’m wondering if this is the first this happens to these people or they’re just noticing a non-issue where fuel moved due to the incline.

im guessing it’s just a random electrical or software gremlin , let’s hope they can update it without repairs

my driveway is reasonably steep. No way around it I’m parking on an incline most of the time.

I ask because the same thing would happen on my Land Cruiser… pull up to park showing 3/4 tank, next day it would be at full. I always chalked it up to parking on an incline plus the tank being at the back of the truck forcing the level sensor to move with the fuel. The gauge was also very slow to update after refueling. It would show full after about 5~10 minutes of driving after filling up.

I've had mine for a week so it has the latest flash from the dealer and i've put 1,000 mies on so far and have the same gauge cluster as you and the fuel gauge seems to be working fine.

I just had this issue last weekend. Arrived at a campsite with just over half tank. Left 2 days later with the gauge showing just over 3/4 tank. Drove for an hour and it didn't move. Gassed up after about that hour of driving and it went to full. The rest the drive it seems to be working properly again.
Campsite was a very slight decline towards the back of the truck.
