Thanks! It does look like a crosshatch sebenza in the pic, but it’s actually the CRK Umnumzaan. Quickly became my favorite pocket knife once I got it broken in a bit. A small Sebenza 31 is next on my list though

Just looked at the Sebenza 31 site and lead times are insane. Some models with over a 2 year wait. Wow!

Yeah I wouldn’t recommend ordering directly from CRK unless it’s a custom job. There are plenty of online retailers and you can usually find the one you want in stock or sign up for email notifications and find one within a couple weeks. Can’t say enough good things about the company though, their warranty and customer service is no joke. I knocked mine off the kitchen counter and bent the tip like a week after I got it. Sent it in and they had it back to me a month later resharpened and reprofiled for free

Interesting. I’ve carried a Kershaw for many many years. It’s held up well for the abuse I give it but does not stay sharp for very long at all. Constantly having to sharpen. How’s the blade on the Sebenza 31

Edit: Sorry for hijacking the watch thread

Handed down from my dad. Made in 1965 before I was born. I had it professionally restored when it was given to me.

I’m case anyone is interested, Direnzo Watches out of Switzerland will be dropping the latest creation, the DRZ05 Solaris at the end of next month. This company founded by Sergio Godoy Di Renzo makes a very fine watch.

I’m not a collector or a connoisseur, but Sangin Instruments makes excellent watches. They have several different models and do small batch releases, usually selling out in 30-60 seconds. The crown at the 8 o’clock is what originally sold me.

That’s a nice looking watch and checks off many desirable features.

    • Good size, 42 mm
    • Bold dial and indexes
    • Reliable automatic Seiko movement
    • 120 click bezel
Will need to keep my eye on them.

Thanks. Company is top notch too! Veteran owned and operated. I think it’s just a guy and his wife that do everything. If you’re interested, I’d sign up for their emails alerts. I know they have social media, IG, and I think they put a lot of info on there. I don’t have any social media, so I just keep an eye out for emails. They just did a collaboration with Toor Knives too, got a pretty slick folder the other day.

Do you wear this or does it live in the box most of the time? I’m sure you know how enormously valuable this reference has become. I realize that doesn’t matter since it’s from your dad. I hope to be able to do the same thing for my son. Beautiful watch.

Thank you for the compliment. I wear it very seldomly. Mostly on family dinners out to show my appreciation and create conversation with my father.

My wife got me a new Hamilton yesterday. It’s definitely one of my favorites now. I absolutely love it. Pardon the lousy pic. This office lighting isn’t the best for this kind of thing.

Yes she did. I have a couple of Hamilton watches and I really like them.

She got it from this site for about half of what it was elsewhere. She ordered it on Saturday and it came in yesterday. She paid for overnight shipping because it was only $25.00.

Been wearing my Seiko 5 a lot lately, normally I wear my G-shock when at the field office, but figured this is rugged (and cheap) enough to make the rotation. I looked back at when I bought it and was shocked that I paid about $40 several years ago.

Also picked up one of the 160th anniversary Tag Heuers - this one is the Carrera Montreal. I was set on a Tudor until I saw this and instantly fell in love

I have been into watches for a while now. The first watch I ever bought with my own money was a Bulova back in 94-95. From there I have own many watches, Omega, Rolex, Ball, Sinn, Longines, Seiko, Casio, and I few others. I recently went and picked up a Bremont S301, beautiful clean watch. When I got home I went to set the time and the crown had a wobble to it. Call the jeweler and had another one ordered. New watch came in and it had the same issue, not as bad but it had it. For a $3k watch, it should have been perfect. Needless to say I was turned off by Bremont. I have always wanted a Omega Seamaster 300. So I said you only live once and bit the bullet. Lord knows I have spent 10-15 times more money on other things. So I bought it. It’s going to be a forever watch, if possible, lol. So I now own a Omega Seamaster 300 and a Ball Fireman.

Omega and Ball are excellent watches. I don’t have either but would like to have one. It’s been a while since I’ve added to my collection. Actually thinned it out and sold quite a few that I found myself not wearing much. I did receive an email this morning with a nice looking Bell & Ross .

Recently added these two to the collection.

    • Boldr -Expedition 1: I have a Boldr diver watch for many years now and Boldr has grown to be one of my favorite brands. When they brought back the original Expedition 1, I couldn’t resist the pre-order sale.
    • UnDone - Aqua Ii: I’ve had my eye on UnDone for quite some time. A flash sale pushed me over the edge and gave me a reason to pull the trigger.

My son pulled this outta somewhere the other day. Hadn’t seen it for years. This was my watch when I was living 100yds from the beach, surfing daily and stumbling home from bars.. :burp::puke:

little bit different than most watches in this thread, but still a watch. Freestyle Hawaii edition.

The Superocean would be a great choice.

Here's a Tudor Pelagos FXD that's close to the same aesthetic. Comparing for similar look only - price for both is similar

You can't go wrong with a Tudor. Best brand for the buck. I have a Black Bay GMT that is my everyday wear. I check it each Monday and it is only two seconds fast every WEEK. Rock solid for a mechanical watch.

Is that PVD treatment? Nice. How is it wearing? You seeing any wear on the edges?

It is not treated. Other than a few superficial scratches on the crystal it has held up well. Its about 3years old and i wear it everyday.
