Will be calling my 96 year old mom shortly then taking Manny to tour a B-29 Superfortress. One of two left still flying.

I cooked and the kids served my wife breakfast in bed, then gave her a few gifts and all the crafts/cards the kids made at school. We’re about to go to swimming at my parents, then back on cook/grill duty for dinner.

Usually it’s a fairly low key day focused on relaxing.

Might want to switch plates when she’s not looking. :eek2:

Going to visit my mom after lunch, with obligatory flowers and card, then the boys and I will be cooking dinner for Mrs. Landphil. I have no idea what I’m making yet, but if it’s anything like her birthday dinner I made a few weeks ago it will be expensive and delicious!!

Not enough, apparently...yet. This damn forum...
On day 3/3 at work embracing the suck (and the OT) since the lady went home to spend time with her mom. Sucked it up and wished the ex a happy day because I love my daughter and I would be on her shit list if I didn't.

Sucks. There’s no good time for that, but hang in there. I hope you both have an easy time of it, and that she feels supported, you hanging with her through it.

Sounds like y’all are doing a great job, orchestrating the displays of love and appreciation. I know it’s a classic Hallmark holiday, but it is wonderful to have a reason to prioritize spending the day with family. You guys rock!

I had to work but was able to sneak away for a few minutes and drop off flowers to my wife. The kids got up early and made her breakfast and coffee. I’m smoking some pork tenderloins and doing mashed potatoes with a side of broccoli for dinner. Got her a nice bottle of wine and chocolate truffles and my little ones (dad’s money) got her a pedicure.

IMG_20220508_131224884_HDR.jpg Smoked some pork spare ribs for my Mom and family. Spent the afternoon hanging with the family at my parents place. For the wife, cooked breakfast and did all the laundry while smoking the ribs. Pretty exhausted right now, but the Mom's are all happy.

Finally was able to talk to my mom a couple hours ago. She got to talk to Manny. My mom is doing pretty good for 96. High spirits. We are keeping from her that my older brother is losing his battle with cancer. VA sucks.....big time. He was exposed several times to Agent Orange on him in 68/69 while a Marine on a 4 man fire team dropped into a shit show for a month at a time or longer. 18 months in the jungle at 18. Thanks for nothing is his mindset. Can't blame him one bit . ...VA doesn't want to cover his situation....
