I went to his club when it was in it's heyday. I was stationed at Ft. Hood. Made a weekend of it. Had a blast.

My step dad and my mother met him in his club, before it burned down, obviously. He stopped at their table and talked to them to see if they were enjoying themselves. Dad told him that he was a square dance caller. Mickey sat down and spent about two hours talking to mom and dad. He even danced with mom for one dance. He didn't have to do that. The guy was nothing but class.

Awesome story! Everything I've read about him when it comes to personal encounters aligns to your account. He was a true blue gentleman and helluva entertainer. His cousin is none other than Jerry Lee Lewis and there's video of them tearing it up on pianos. I also read they're both related to Jimmy Swaggart.
