Hello everyone - just joined the forum today. I started my Tundra journey beginning of April. I had a 2006 Toyota Corolla for many years that put me through undergrad and then graduate school, and then first couple years growing our family. It was an excellent car and I've always been a Toyota fan. I actually have always wanted a 4runner, but the utility offered by a truck really swayed me. And we'll be getting the new Sequoia as our family car later this year once those are available so it will scratch that 4runner itch I guess :)

Brings to me a few weeks ago (mid-April) when the dealership called me and said they think they would get an allocation for a new Tundra. I had sent them a build and price sheet of what I wanted and the dealership educated me a bit on how the Toyota process works - as in they do not custom build orders, but they build cars, dealerships get allocations, and then the dealership will try to get as close to what you wanted as possible. I count myself lucky they got the body and trim I wanted - albeit not my first color choice. But everything was good, so I said I was interested. Dealership told me a few other customers expressed interest and they would talk with the GM to determine who would get the allocation. Sounded a little weird to me, and I don't know if it was true or not, but I ended up getting the allocation. So went in yesterday and put down a deposit on the truck and got the spec sheet with the VIN.

Excited to be a new Tundra owner and look forward doing some modifications and personalizations to make it mine. As the title states, I have never owned a truck. Closest I had was a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II which is not remotely close to a truck haha. I loved that vehicle despite it's many quirks and frequent repairs. Taught me to work on my own cars and really gave me a lot of confidence in my mechanical abilities. I had a nice 3" inch lift on it, steel off road bumpers, winch, etc. It was awesome. I have had a very good life up to now, and it shows because one of my biggest regrets is selling that vehicle. But it wasn't the most reliable and with a growing family we needed something more reliable and better suited for kiddos.

Sorry - super long intro, but just wanted to say hi and look forward to getting lots of insight and guidance on this site!

    Welcome from NY.

The dealership is lying to you. You can order whatever you want. The dealership built and ordered that truck and it is not allocated, it is just finally getting there.
Think about this and ask the dealership this question......
Why can you got to the website and build a vehicle then?

Thanks @Jim LE 1301 - I thought it seemed very weird that you can go to the website and build & price, if that is actually not how the system works. I guess they had this on order and wanted it sold, or someone backed out. Either way, I'm fairly happy I am able to get one, especially the hybrid, this early on. I work from home, so my wife and I decided we might as well sell my car while prices were so high. So we sold it for $1,000 less than I paid for it 6 years and 45,000 miles prior. Felt like I couldn't NOT sell my car haha. We hadn't been a one car family for over 10 years, and there have definitely been some times when we really did need two cars. So it will be nice to have two vehicles again and get something pretty close to what I wanted.

Thanks everyone - appreciate the warm welcome!

@Ely010606 - I grew up in Las Vegas and then lived in Reno going to UNR for graduate work. Reno is still one of my most favorite places I have lived.
