Tuning advice

I live in San Antonio Texas. I'm trying to find a shop that can tune my 5.7. To get More hp and better gas mileage. Does anyone know where to go? Or what about the Bully dog or pedal buddy? They are things you plug in.

 

If you're not adding a supercharger I don't think you will be getting anything crazy for improvements. The 5.7 is pretty solid out of the factory.

What is driving the desire for more power? Do you have mods? Thumbnail looks like you have wheels and tires that are going to sap power. Have you regeared? Gearing will wake it up if you haven't already done it.

 

Looks like just the oem tss package wheels . Pretty common dealer package in texas/south. OP theres not any magic tune thats going to do what you want. The pedal commander will wake up throttle response but does nothing for actual hp. Mpg.......yea....... about that.....

 

I haven’t seen a lot of tuning like there are for Tacoma’s OVTune / KDMAX etc.

You’re in Texas so you have the 2 best options within driving distance. DAP tuning and Prospeed autosports are 2 of the most experienced tundra tuners. They can squeeze out an extra 20-30+ hp and torque with just an intake and exhaust based on the dynos I’ve seen them post.

 

A throttle controller wont improve HP and it is questionable if they improve MPGs by much; they claim up to +20% but I wouldn't expect more than 5% to 10% gains at best.

 

I got DAP's tune, full ARH header system, SABM, and an AFE Dry filter.

According to Dustin, and dyno results he did with similar setup, a gain of ~70hp is achievable.

Has anyone had the invalid characters in vin error in update agent for the bullydog tuner gt+ gas? T401. I’m able to install the correct year and model of tundra, but when I go back to download and update the actual tunes I get this error in update agent. And when I go to setting my vin is definitely in there so I don’t think it’s been previous locked to anyone else.

 

You have this question in 4 or 5 threads now, contact bullydog. Or @dirtydeeds will be able to help. He has extensive experience with the tuner and sells them.
