Helmholtz resonator didn't help. Cruising down the freeway at 60mph @2100ish RPM, it was still droning way to much. After considering my options, I'm taking this as a lessen learned and starting over. Down grading from 3" to 2 1/2" Stainless Steel. Deleting the X pipe and going back to a Y, into a resonator, to a single out and into a muffler. It still sounds awesome but having a now 4 month old, I couldn't do that to her little ears.

Anyway, if anyone is interested in my exhaust, its for sale :D PM me.

Damn bummed to hear it was still droning that bad but good call with the little one. I have a 3 month old so I can understand, you’re making the right move

    Congrats on the baby.

It sounds so nice but the new, new system should sound good too. Lol stay tuned, getting it done on May 20th.

I’m guessing it’s prohibitively expensive to get dyno results for all these different setups?

Oooo I never thought about getting it on the Dyno. I can call around and get pricing. My guess, I'm losing power with the 3".

Interesting thread and results….I am about to to a similar setup.

Currently have a spintech muffler replacement stock everything else and sounds great zero drone.

Waiting on my pro fabrication 2.5”x6.25”x17” stage 2 quiet race mufflers to arrive. Will do a similar setup, 2.5” mandrel bent tig 304SS equal length w x pipe.

Being recently supercharged this thing needs to breathe and was clear on my tuning / dyno day that I am being held back.

That said I do not want drone not one bit.

Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen or maybe helmholz will work for me?

Let me know how it comes out. I would keep my set up but I don't want to keep throwing money at it. I rather start over and get it squared away.

Just got my exhaust done last week - zero drone. I’ll update my thread with some vids. If I had to guess I think it was your X pipe, but not an expert.

What a difference for me it rips now!

What did you end up doing for yours? That exhaust was so sexy!

That looks awesome! What muffler's did you go with?

Man, I wish I was able to fix the drone. I took my truck to The Muffler Man in Placentia, California. He said it was way my x-pipe was designed. We tried doing a helmholtz pipe (J pipe) and it help very little but having a new born baby, I couldn't do that to her little ears. It was so bad, just driving it for 10 mins gave me a headache. I ended up going back to a Y set up. 2-1/2" Y to a single 3" and a Magnaflow. Sound really nice and smooth. I'll take picture soon.

Mufflers are pro fabrication racing mufflers. 2.5”x6.25”x17” stage 2 quiet mufflers.

They aren’t super quiet but not super loud either. 2.5” mandrel bent 304SS TIG welded throughout.

RPM in Oceanside did the work super happy.

Listened to some of my videos on speaker and sounds louder than actual….if anyone is in San Diego and wants to go for a ride let me know…want to help all first gens!

Sans blower these engines are very sensitive to exhaust modifications…don’t get aggressive with pipe diameter otherwise you will loose low end torque.

Here's an update to my exhaust. Finally got around to take pictures for you guys. The drone is gone and it sounds smooth. I ditched the x-pipe and went with a more stock set up. Stainless steel cat-back, 2-1/2" Y into a 3" straight to a Magnaflow 18".

Got a Yakima roof rack. I've been waiting for Go Fast Campers to bring back their Superlite RTT.

Got some ToyTec coilovers. Glad I made the switch because the new bushing on my old coilovers already failed.

So far so good. I need to adjust slightly, I'm a 1/2" higher on the driver side but going to wait until it settles.

Interesting, my driver was a 1/2” lower after it settled. Curious what your will end up at. Either way easy to adjust. Found out this was the easiest setup
