Many of you know I started my Toyota journey with a 2006 4runner. Such a good vehicle, I ended up in a Tundra when it was time for something new. My son is still rocking the 4Runner.

She has OME light suspension, currently running BFG Ko2s in 265/70/17. I installed the BFGs because they hit a lot of what I needed, especially because they were C load and not SL or E.

It is time to replace them. I am open to SL or C load tires, will likely be putting SL on due to the cost and choices and the fact that the SUV really does not need C load since he doesent go off road or tow like I did.

I run E load wildpeaks on the Tundra. Does anyone have any experience with standard load wildpeaks? Strongly considering putting them on the SUV. They are running $232 currently.

For $250 less for the set, about $180 each there is ROAD VENTURE A/T 51 available, SL and still a 55k mile warranty.

Could get the DT pathfinder ATs for about same price as the AT51s, still SL load and same mileage warranty.

Then for about 2 bills each there are Hankook dynapros and general grabber ATX. Ive run Hankook ATs before and they were not bad at all. Also for 2 bills, mickey thomson has the Deegan 38AT, dont know much about them, SL and have 60k warranty. Had bad experience with Coopers in E load on my Tundra, so hesitant about them but they are also around $200. Are they better in SL?

So, first looking for feedback on SL wildpeaks and then any feedback on the tires listed here. I do like a more aggressive look, even if I am not driving the 4runner, a beefy tires just looks better since the 4runner is lifted. Thanks!

and now for some pics of the old girl! She is knocking on 180k miles and has been wonderful.

    Still rolling stock baby....
I have SL rated wildpeaks on my 2022 TRD off road 4 runner

great tire. A little heavy but mileage has not suffered. I can still get 19.5 on the highway

    great off road tire.

on road is great and no issue on wet, snow or ice my roads.

Ive got SL wildpeaks on my 05 Tundra in 285/70/17 and they are great tires. I have had them on since June 2017 and they still have some life left in them. I got them because I wanted a light tire for better gas mileage and I tow a 3000lb trailer with them a few times a year with no issues. I may go with the Toyo AT3 next just because they weigh a few lbs less but I think the wildpeaks look much more aggressive.

Thanks for the feedback. I will spend a couple hundred dollars more and get wildpeaks. They have been good on the tundra for E load tires, which are much stiffer. 4runner runs C now, so Sl wildpeak should be mellow and smooth.

Yeah man, i think youll be happy with those SL wildpeaks. I have them in Erated as well but did a ton of research on both the SL and LT including talking to Falken reps multiple times. The SL is the tire Falken recommends for 4runners anyway. The Sl's still have a strong robust construction so your son will be good if he goes off road but theyre 7lbs lighter per tire and will have great road manners. Ive seen so many great reviews from owners of SL wildpeaks.. plus cant beat the look, and itll be cool to have matching tires with your son.

I ran Hankook dynapros on my 04 V8 4runner for a couple years. I liked them and they were affordable (bought on Amazon for $505 shipped + tax and fees). I did 80% on the street/hwy and they wore well, weren't that loud, and were fine for the fireroads and camping trips I made.

Just ordered Cooper Discoverer's for the Tundra, as KO2s are sold out everywhere right now based on the places I checked. FYI Costco has a good rebate on KO2s right now.

I regret selling my runner, if I didn't mod it to the point that hindered it's on-road driving, I would have kept it. My mistake lolDSC_6010.jpg

I did end up with the wildpeaks, SL load to replace the C load BFGs. Son says it rides and drives much better!
