Taking a break to stretch now. About another 250 miles for today for a total of about 450. This was the light day but will do more the next couple days. Hoping to reach Austin Monday night.

Yep, final move. Moving company left on Wednesday and will be in Austin next Thursday.

Yes. We will do that route this summer. We will drive back in July to get our RV trailer and camp in OR with family for a week before coming back to TX.

After a night of sleep in Redding, CA getting packed up to head out for the day. Damn this truck is fun to drive in the mountains with both sway bars and a few hundred pounds of stuff in the back! Had to drive the last two hours in the dark last night with the rain. Should be a better day today.

Highlight yesterday was seeing a wild turkey next to the freeway in southern Oregon yesterday. At least I am pretty sure it was a turkey.

Stop for a late parking lot lunch at only finest establishment (Target).

Gas prices are not as bad as I expected in CA. I did see one sign for $6.09 per gallon of regular though…

Not yet. Hopefully tomorrow. Rest of the family has not been so up and at ‘em in the morning. Need that to change if we ever want to get there!

The highest I’ve seen on my current trip is $4.99. I did learn that the gas stations by the casinos in Ok are cheap gas. $3.65. I figure they were trying to lure folks to stop at the casino.

So I forgot that yesterday I hit a milestone: 10,000 miles and 14 months of ownership. Last night’s dinner stop was in Goodyear AZ where I did some work for a bit pre-COVID before staying the night in Tucson. Crossing New Mexico today.

Finished the trip yesterday. Fort Stockton to Austin, I-10 to 290. Gave me a chance to drive through Fredricksburg and more of the hill country. Never got to see a real road runner but did see the world’s largest one…

We all should have a meet-up when you get settled in.

Oh, BTW, there is a local tundra group called ATXTC. If you are on facebook, I can get you into the group.

I would be up for a meet up later things month. Need a few weeks to keep getting settled.

Also, anyone have a recommendation for an off-road shop in the area?

As mentioned before, triple c chop shop is awesome. Really great guy, if you’re lucky enough his wife might give you some cupcakes!! Round 2 off-road is another good spot, in it Leander but has a huge wait time right now, tried to get an alignment on the 20th and first opening was the 10th of May. Land cruiser specialists is also a great place although a little pricer. I recently dropped my 4Runner off at Bearden automotive which did a one over for the sale of the 4Runner. Hopefully this helps and I’ll I’d love to meet up but, only own a 99 nonop 4Runner at this point but could make the trip in my subbie outback!! Cheers amigo

We visit El Lago every year and absolutely love it there. My transfer with my company i feel will determine ultimately where we land in Texas.

Version 2.0 of the trip started today. Road-tripped back to OR last week, did some camping with family, and now heading back to Austin with the trailer in tow.

Goal is to be back home by EOD Friday.

60 mph and ~10 mpg is going to make for a long trip…

Photo from Home Depot parking lot in The Dalles OR. Goal for tonight is Boise ID.
