I'm sure there's a thread about this somewhere, but I don't have time to search through all of them.
I have a 2008 Sequoia that I want to lift 2-3" to accommodate bigger offroad tires. I was quoted over $5800 for a Dobinsons lift, Method wheels and Toyo Open Country AT2.
My question is....can I do this for a better price? I do not have the equipment or experience to do this myself. My son and his friends all have 1990's Toyota pickups and can work know their suspensions since they don't have coilovers. Simple and easy. Therefore, I need an installer.
I've been told that Bilsteins are the way to go but I can only find the shocks and not the springs.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Tina, If you live in Southern California. You might want to try calling 88rotors. They have the right tools and they have the experience You can watch there videos on YouTube. Try calling them for a price check. 626-442-3150. If you don't live out here. Just call anyways. To do a price comparison. Welcome to the forum.

You can check exitoffroad.com, bilsteinlifts.com, and 1stgenoffroad.com to start with. They have dedicated sequoia suspension sections so it should make it a little easier for you. From there you can research the type of lift you want, spacer lift vs spring lift.

By the way, Bilstein only makes shocks, not springs. If you wish to run springs, i believe the only option is Dobinsons or OME, dobinsons being the preferred ones from what I understand. I'm still doing my own research though.

Great! I actually reached out to 1stgenoffroad and they gave me some great suggestions. I found a local shop that I got some great Black Rhino wheels from and I think I'm finally close to getting it all together. Overall, this will cost about $4k. Much less than the other quote! Same quality for less!

Glad to hear! What suspension route are you going to go with?

Also which black rhino wheels are you going with? I have a set of 18x9.5" +6 black rhino overland wheels sitting in the garage waiting to go on. I'm just trying to figure out the exact suspension route I need to take to make it all work. Currently leaning towards Bilstein 5100 shocks and Dobinsons 2.5" springs all around. And a body mount chop will most likely be needed as the wheel offset is quite aggressive - looking to go with 295/70/18 tire size.

So, I went with the 2.5" Bilstein and Dobinsons kit from 1st genoffroad. I actually put the Black Rhino wheels and tires on first so now I need to upsize the tires. I'm working with the shop I bought them from to see what we can work out. I want to do the 295/70/18 size also.
Here's a comparison pic of before the mods, after the new wheels and tires and then after the lift.

So, I went with the Black Rhino Oceano in Bronze. They're 18 x 9.5 and +12 offset. Pretty aggressive but I like the look.
