Crap! I just looked at my front Driver's side coil and same deal...it's been clunking for about a month...no off-roading, just winter driving...I'm not really happy about this like anyone would be. @akmerle , how easy was it to talk to Terraflex or Stage 3? I saw your response from them but I'm curious if they were "easy" to speak with or just trying to deflect?

Maybe 5k miles...love the suspension, just not the Driver's Side...the PS is clean and plush and right...I'm starting to see a pattern...

    Damn, sorry man.

When I talked to them, they gave me two options:

    1. They send new replacement shock, and then you send leaking shock back to them. They did not have an ETA on when a new shock would be available tho, so said it may be a while.

    2. Send leaking shock to them for repair, and they send repaired shock back to you. Much faster option according to them.

I already had replaced the shocks with TRD Pro Fox shocks, so I sent the blown one in for repair, and then gave the shocks to my BIL.

All in all it cost me nearly $500 in shop time and shipping for their defective shock (not including initial cost, and cost of Pro Fox shocks). Underwhelmed and not happy.

Edit: If you look at post #505, I was complaining about a clunking noise as well.

Argh! I'm not thrilled either but overall it is better than the OE TRD Offroad stuff...I am lucky enough to have a lift to perform the swap myself but I will contact them and see what can be done, however, I cannot be without my truck for the time being repaired...I may need to wait for them unfortunately. Thank you akmerel! I went to HS in Palmer at Colony High School for what it's worth too! Ha!

I'm glad Terraflex is quick to respond! I sent them some photos and they said they'll work with me. I will keep everyone posted on what happens...for what it's worth, I am very pleased with the suspension, but occasionally there are hiccups. We will see how they will handle this...

I was part of the group buy and have had the set on for 8 months/9000 miles with no issues YET. I live in AZ so no winter conditions. It must be said for the few people that are involved in this group buy and the # of issues already it’s becoming difficult to say these are a good shock. I can’t believe at this point anyone will get 30-40k out of this shock and that’s pathetic.

Seals get cold and shrink in colder climates... it's more of a "Northern issue" compared to those that have the southern heat, etc. Still not acceptable, but not unheard of. Happens with rifles, compound bows, boots even...can't always win in every condition... I'm hopeful, but guarded...similar stuff happens to Kings and Icon up by me on folks' rigs too...

After cleaning the shock and running for a week, I was able to show to Terraflex that there is indeed some leaking and not just weeping from the seals. They are sending me a new shock (once built) but I have had great customer service, quick replies, and no deflecting of this issue...Hopefully by the end of the month (April) I can swap in a new driver's side front shock. I will continue to keep this updated for progress...

Bumping this up as I finally have my wheels and tires on. Was trying to hold out for Toyo AT3’s but with no sight of them for the next foreseeable future in the size I wanted, I pulled the trigger on nitto terra grappler g2’s in 295/70/18 mounted on some ray 10’s. I’m now in love with this truck all over again. It handles awesome and rides great! I do think I have a leaking front shock which really pisses me off. Going to send some pics to falcon and see what the deal is. I hope I don’t regret going with them if this is indicative of the future. Slight rub on the front bumper with the tires which I’ll address with the coach builder shim kit for the bumper.

Looks fantastic! I'm annoyed with my issue, but they are making it right...there is still no reason for this but Terraflex is a good outfit and will likely bolster their future products so thus cannot occur...regardless, stay patient and happy:burp:

Haven't installed mine yet, did keep them in the garage over the winter. Guess I should check to see if the front shocks leaked while the garage was below 0.

New shock came in a month ago...installed it this morning...went smooth but I noticed the shock body is definitely different then the first go-around. No more grease fitting on lower mounting eyelet and the the body itself is now squared off for securing versus the previous squaring off near the eyelets...feel great again bit damn was the old one blown out... I'm glad it's ready for a trip next holiday weekend! All in all, it was painleess to get the "right" part back and I'm hoping the new design is more robust for the tundras...

Probably did that to add some flats for ease of assembly and disassembly.

Well to somewhat wrap up my experience with these shocks. My BIL, who I gave the shocks to, texted me yesterday to tell me that the updated model drivers side front shock is leaking now.

He has maybe a couple thousand miles on them at max since he put them on in May.

Hope the shocks are still working well for most everyone.

Daaaaaamn! I hope they hang on....Terraflex said on the phone when I was chatting with them on my claim, that "These damn Tundras are going to break us!" I just said, no, they're good shocks if they don't fail every year...this winter will likely have so additional issues...I truly do love mine and have the ability to throw them on myself, like others, but if this is a repeatable offense, I'll be disappointed...thanks for the feedback @akmerle ! I hope your experience is a rare one!

    Right!?!!

I currently have about 30k on my rears and 23k on the fronts. No issues at all so far. I will keep an eye on them though.

I got mine long before the group buy and have had zero problems.
Hate to hear yours are having issues.
    I love these shocks.
Buddy just bought a Jeep and we are going to throw a set on it.

I also have had no issues with mine but hard to argue this shock is a huge disappointment. The shear number in this group-buy who have had issues is staggering. I drive a Toyota because I enjoy not having the stress of constant breakdowns shared with the big 3. I now have to look at my Falcon shocks constantly just knowing it's only a matter of time till I see a leak. Sure, all I have to do then is remove them, ship them to Teraflex and wait for them to be repaired or replaced all the while not having a vehicle. Not acceptable. I don't care what anyone wants to say in their defense, with what we ALL know now nobody would have bought these shocks.

Well lets see. 1. HulkSmurf14 2. 49 NRTH 3. Akmerie (original and new style both leaking). So out of the dozen or so in the groupbuy were already seeing about 25% failure rate. Higher if you include that Akmerie has had his fail twice. So, again, if Falcon was going to advertise their new shock as a product that a quarter of you will see failure in about a year then Yes, nobody would have bought these shocks.

Wonder if they would just sell the rears....

I've only seen them sell the fronts and rears together, missed this GB, but still interested in the adjustable rear. Sucks seeing folks having issues with the front shock but at least there are other decent alternatives for the front. So far Falcon is the only company I've seen with this adjustable rear set up.

So we are down to about 12% of a small portion of the run. How many units in all were in that run the group buy came out of.
Agreed Not the best odds but also not nearly as bad as some would make them be when you look at the total numbers.
Hopefully Teraflex are taking a good look at what is actually causing the failures.
I bet they got/made a bad batch of seals. Not sure if their seals are made in house or not.

I asked them a while back. I wanted rears for towing my boat but was happy with my fronts. They said no, because of the way they worked they needed to be paired.

They treated me well, I know they want this fixed a d we're intent on their updates being the fix...agreed, not terrible but only to those "unlucky" ones...I hope it stays that way...crap happens, standing by their product will speak volumes in my ears...just keep an eye on them leaking come winter...that's when it will occur if at all.
