Age of spark plug

New to me Tundta
Right at 100K miles
Remove a plug to check condition.

looks ok to me.
If it's original than getting new set.
Is this a factor plug?

 

Considering OEM for your 05 is either

$9 Denso SK20R11 Iridium Spark Plug, Pack of 1

Denso SK20R11 or NGK IFR6A11, I'd say not only is it factory but possibly original !

How'd the electrode look at 100K?

From my tired eye, they look great.

 

I'd bet they weren't in there too long. I replaced mine at 150k and they were flush with the porcelain. Oops lol

 

There's a typo in the manual, and the actual Denso part is SK 20R11

I wouldn’t change them if it weren’t

Good to check them all. Will let you know of any issues you've had that were isolated to a single cylinder. I just replaced all 8 plugs on mine for the first time and found 2 were loose and were letting combustion gases/heat into the socket well, degrading/burning/cracking the ignition coil.

Just know, the SK 20R11 Iridium plugs are pre-gapped and manuf'er specifically stated (on my package) not to gap them.

0.031 or .044 depending on the manufacturer. I had issues with the 0.03's, my engine just didn't like them, they were NGK's.

 

Pretty worn! Looks like the threads are pretty healthy, that is a good thing. I'd certainly bet those aren't the originals, but I've been wrong a lot of times before. I mentioned above, I had better luck with the 0.044 gaps than I did the 0.033 (or 31's). I would go with Densos over the NGK's from personal experience. It probably doesn't make a difference unless your engine is as worn as mine.

Your fuel mileage will drop after replacing them when they are that worn haha. When they are super gapped they arc hotter to bridge the gap. I ended up with a knock in cold weather after replacing my densos with the smaller gapped NGK's.. again, my engine is not very well maintained. Hard to believe something as trivial as a spark plug gap could even make a difference, go figure.

 

If we are to believe our 00-04 Owners Manual, the 2UZ−FE/V8 are gapped at .031 and the 5VZ–FE/V6 are gapped at .043.

As for 05-06, the 2UZFE with the VVT-i went with a different heat rating than prior years, which gave those years different gap spec.

I installed a new set of Iridiums. The XSP seems to have a fair amount
Better power. I also did several transmission drain and fills. The truck is
driving very nicely. Kicking it down to passing gear is fun and sounds
addicting ! I used sparingly anti seize. Coming from aircraft world, I’m old school.
Always used it on aircraft engines. Just don’t glob it on. Big milestone coming up.
Getting near the 100K mark….. better sell soon, prolly all worn out.
