My daughters 2006 4R with 156,000 is spitting out that same code....could be a bad cat. No rattling or odors, and we replaced both downstream sensors. :notsure:

That is an interesting idea. I’ll admit ignorance, though, and know nothing about these sims. I’ll have to research and learn more about whether it could help my situation. Thanks!

Yes, considering the age and mileage of your daughter’s 4Runner, that seems like a good possibility. I’ve read on here and elsewhere how our Tundras can be finicky when it comes to new, aftermarket cats, though.

Estimated date is mid April but just got an update that there is still not a firm date. Getting close to 6 months waiting now. Kind of wish I ordered the parts online instead of waiting in the dealership queue.

Last date I was given was April 8. Dealership knows 8 are coming in (I'm up in the great white north though). Coming up on 6 months as well. Guess it will be "missed ETA #12" now.

I can't believe I never saw this thread..

Mine were stolen 11/15/2021 from my employer's parking lot in Mesquite.
It happened at noon, my Drone mobile phone app went off at 12:05 and 12:08.
The thieves were spooked by the alarm and left the driver's side hanging on the rubber hanger.
Trying to figure out what I'm going to do with it.

    (edited)_8f56gayr_00f4218147442b00c23a016d9436007db9dd4eed.jpg

Dropped the truck off at Rockwall Toyota 11/16/2021.
They told me 6 to 8 weeks, we're going on day 151, that's 21.5 weeks.
Just for parts and labor, it is costing State Farm a little over $6K, minus my $200 deductible.

One side came in mid-December, it is the other side they're waiting on.
Instead of giving me possible ETAs, they gave up on that and now tell me they have no idea when it will come in.
My dealer has 25 Tundras and Sequoias on their lot waiting for cat parts.

The only saving grace is they are paying for my 2021 Tacoma rental/loaner.
Insurance paid for the first 34 days ($1500 limit per claim for a rental), so far the balance is up to over $5K, but Toyota is covering it.

I have Valhalla's front plate in the garage, the rear plate coming in a week or 2, I hope.
They will be installed THE DAY I get my truck back.

Hope you get your parts soon. The shields offer great protection and rugged looks. I went with the dealer install and it look better than I expected.

Thanks, me too, this Tacoma is too small.

At first, I had the dealer reserve me one of their shields, but went with Vahallah since it has more coverage..
The dealer was going to charge me over $600 for their shield installed.
It doesn't even protect the rear cats.

    pkw9bgwt_eb745684247e50931dabd49b2a253c1f23ee3dd1.jpg

I bought @Classy63 front and rear Vahalla's shields, powder-coated in black, with their security bolts for $750 shipped.
I can install them myself, not that much to it.

@Riki832 seems to have the parts in - anyone else getting some positive news? Still waiting over here - now over the 6 month mark.

Insurance already paid for a new one back in November..
I think the one the dealer is waiting on is the other side, this side came in in December.
When I dropped off the truck in November they said 6-8 weeks, unfortunately, I believed them.

If I would have known it would be 5 months, I would have at least put a fuel stabilizer in the gas tank...

Besides that, how would one install this double-walled pipe?
    Just weld the outside wall?

Thought for sure someone would have posted this:
    https://www.thedrive.com/news/polic...rter-thieves-they-say-caused-11-6m-in-damages

Police in Houston raided seven homes and arrested six people last week they say stole hundreds of catalytic converters that could sell for more than $1 million and attributed the damages done by the small syndicate to $11.6 million.

More than 470 catalytic converters were recovered by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Houston Police Department, and the Office of Homeland Security.

A great step forward. Now if only those asshats at Toyota could figure out how to get me a Catalytic converter I've been waiting for since Oct 2021 then we'd be on to something.

    Wow, I couldn’t wait 6 months for convertors...Your coming up on a YEAR :eek2:.
My co-worker got aftermarkets cause Toyota told him that it would be 4-5 month wait and the next day they got stolen again.

I lost it on them and now I've got a test pipe on one side. Sounds like an old chev square body.

I'd just burn the thing down at that point. That's got to really suck.

I hear ya. Something I don’t understand is that I see folks on FB and other platforms saying their shit was stolen in Feb/March this year and already replaced with genuine Toyota converters. Maybe they’re lying or maybe really weren’t genuine Toyota parts. Idk.

I’ve been waiting since January and the stealership told me a few weeks ago that it may be another six months. I just don’t get it.

    I have to ask.

For people that have had their cats stolen, why not go with catless pipes + non-foulers? I have to assume not everyone has full coverage insurance, so the out-of-pocket cost has to be a hit to the wallet.

I've run catless on some of my performance cars, and yes, a little smell is associated with it.

(for legal reasons, i'm strictly talking about tack use only)*

I am. IDGAF either. I let my truck sit at the stealership for almost 2 months and couldn't stand it anymore. The stealer that i took mine too wouldn't give me a rental. I had other means of transportation so wasn't too bad. But I still couldn't take it it any longer. Still running straights with non foulers and spacers. All is good and I have other plans working for my exhaust.

Were you able to pass emissions here in TX? I just had my annual inspection, and they checked underneath for cats. They immediately noticed the Valhalla cat shields, but by crawling underneath they were able to see my aftermarket cats. Unless you’re in a county that doesn’t require an emissions test?

Not all counties do emissions testing, but if your vehicle throws codes, it won't pass.
