I figured I would write a little snippet to let people know what's going on in my world and what you can expect currently when ordering parts. We all know that brand new models, especially ones that have had a complete overhaul, take some time to get some parts in. No big deal. We all know there is some virus floating around that may have caused some problems. Everybody is really feeling the pinch right now too. First it was our new car inventory, and now it is starting to affect parts. Not just the cool stuff either like headlights and grilles, but basic maintenance items like filters, batteries, and drive belts. If it was just the cool stuff, it wouldn't be so bad because we could still drive our vehicle. When your battery is dead or your belt breaks, you're sort of stuck.

Believe me when I say I try my best to get my hands on parts as quickly as possible. I also try to communicate as best as I can about back orders and their ETA. Toyota is really bad about changing ETAs on me, though. One day, my report will say a week, then the next day, it will say a month. Again, I try my best to get the parts as quickly as I can, but my hands are tied sometimes.

Also, shipping is bonkers right now. The pricing, the level of service (or lack of), transit times, tracking updates. It's all over the place. Any time we ship using USPS, our drivers take the packages to our local post office themselves. We do not have their drivers pick up the packages. That way, we ensure they have received each and every package. Tracking info may not get an update until it is on he vehicle for delivery, or it may not get an update at all, but they do have the package. Same with UPS and FedEx. The service just isn't there. We also repackage almost everything before shipping the parts out. Toyota does not do the best job with their packaging, so we inspect all of the parts and repackage them with more cushioning/void fill to try and make sure the parts get to you without being damaged. Sometimes, it doesn't matter what we do. If a disgruntled shipping employee tosses your package 30ft in the air and drops a people's elbow on it, the part is probably going to break. We also work with the shipping company to file a damage claim and get you another part on the way as quickly as possible. I order stuff all the time, and I know what it's like getting broken things in that I've been waiting on.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we're trying our best over here, and I appreciate the patience you guys have given me when waiting on your parts to come in. Thanks, fellas.

Hi Roman. I just thought about my order and went to check my email when you said it would probably come in. It seemed a little long so I checked back here to see if you had posted anything. Thanks for posting.

I have had my Kia in the body shop for over two months now, it's a real issue.

Also had a Hyundai that took 4 months to get done at a body shop, parts were the hold up.

What sets people, and companies, apart in times like this is the genuine customer service. Sometimes it's a simple email and other times it's a phone call but what counts the most is communication and one can really tell when a company gives a crap by the way they keep their customers in the loop.

Consumers have had to dial back their expectations on quick deliveries and decent prices but one thing stays the same and that's if the person, or company, they're doing business with really gives a damn about them.

I haven't done tons of business with @Roman but the little I've done, and the manner in which he responds to others in this forum, speaks volumes.

    Thank you.

Funny you should talk about shipping. I have 2 pair (front and rear) or mudguards I bought for my Gladiator that I'm now trading in so I won't be needing them. I was trying to get some particulars on setting them up for sale on ebay. Well, after measuring the boxes, I try to do worse case scenario with shipping costs. To ship ONE of these boxes from PA to CA UPS ground is 67.00. USPS for is priority 2 day is 63.00. That's almost the cost of the item. At this point I'd be better off giving them away.

I know what you mean. I hope your insurance is still paying for the rental. I've heard some insurance companies are cutting them off after 30 days whether the vehicle is fixed or not.

I've said this numerous times here and on other forums. I may not be the absolute cheapest price on the internet, but there will not be another seller who will beat my customer service. Don't get me wrong, I think we're pretty competitively priced, but I know other dealerships are cheaper. They can give away parts all they want, but people still purchase from me because of the help I am able to give. The extra mile I'll go. The internet is so impersonal, so to stand out you have to go above and beyond.

Yep, I get emails daily about shipping prices being too high. Some of them are downright irate, like I have any sway over what UPS/Fed Ex/USPS charges. Some even upset because we don't have free shipping. You do realize those guys in the brown trucks aren't bringing boxes to your house because they like to drive around the neighborhood, right? Shipping is never free. You always pay for it, whether it's in the price of the item or you pay a membership or whatever. If I was a giant multi-national corporation like Amazon, I'd have extremely cheap shipping prices too. Alas, I am not, and UPS isn't cutting me that kind of deal.

And this right here is why I *WILL* be ordering stuff from you as soon as I need stuff. A huge part of the reason I own my '20 Tundra is because not only did I have multiple issues with my '13 F150, but the customer service with the local Ford dealerships (plural) was a lot less than stellar.

I'd far rather own a crappy vehicle with great customer service, than a great vehicle with crappy customer service. Thankfully I've got the pleasure of both, but my point is that good or bad customer service will make or break most vehicle ownership experiences. Looking forward to purchasing stuff @Roman! :)
