Hey guys hope y’all are doing good. I was wondering if anyone knew of any headers on the market for my truck? It’s a 2012 4.0 V6 dual overhead cams. I already have a custom dual exhaust and a rear cat delete. I’m interested to hear any ideas any of you might have regarding the drivetrain and possible modifications. I could read up on the 4Runner / Fj forums but they seem to be less active with info like this. Let me know if you know of any headers or anything else that would be of my interest! Thanks guys have a great day

jba and thorley both make headers for the 4.0. OBX has long tubes for that motor. Also think URD may make some. Also contact @dirtydeeds , he has lots of experience with headers and exhaust for toyota.

Headers can be expensive and the install can be a task. The 4.0 is one of the best engines, great power, super reliable, decent MPG, performs great, but not sure you are going to gain much with headers enough to justify the initial cost and then the install effort.

Here is a write up about the DT headers and installing them on a tundra ,

Makes more sense if you plan to go forced induction though. Definitely put an air Crammer on that thing! Procharger comes to mind. At that point selling it and buying one with a 5.7 in it would save you several thousand dollars though…..

I just read the write up and it interests me big time. I’m definitely interested in sound, I’d do the install myself and take it to my muffler guy in the area

I'd love to go forced induction down the line but it is purely hypothetical as it has never been attempted. I really have no reason to trade for a 5.7 I know this truck inside and out I have done all the modifications myself and already have a personal attachment to it. I do love the engine, there is a procharger kit but it will probably require more custom work as it was made for the 4runner. Meanwhile the supercharger costs the same and would bolt on, not sure how the pulley system would need to be changed in this application.
