It is a shithole. Lived there over 30 years. Sounds like it took place in the city which is the real shithole. Thankfully I lived in west county which us the best part of stl. Most of the counties are fine but definitely stay out of stl city limits.

A note on stand your ground laws as I learned in my CCW classes in the states I've held a CCW, while they may protect you under criminal law they do not release you from civil law.

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
Exactly. And in a civil case reasonable doubt isn't required for conviction. We've all seen survivors of thugs shot during a crime claim that the deceased were "turning their life around".

I don’t think that any type of contraption rigged in an unoccupied parked vehicle, and used as any type of theft deterrent would qualify as stand your ground. But, if the vehicle is occupied by someone lawfully allowed to be in it, and that person is in fear of his/her life. And they utilize whatever device that they have to protect themselves from any criminal act being committed against them, then I believe that they would have a better argument using stand your ground.
