I also have a 2021 that did that on the way home from the dealer just the clicking noise. 40 miles on it. Strange thing is it doesn't do it all the time and other times it will squeal very loudly, then it will go away completely for a week or two. It's been to the dealer twice and they can't figure it out so I'll be checking out that cap on the diff tonight. This is my fourth Tundra and it's the only one I ever bought brand new. It's also the only one I ever had an issue with, figures.

Mine has a high pitch squeal I can only hear in tunnels when I'm hard on it or next to a jersey wall.

I'm going to lubricate that area and hopefully it will fix that. Others said it was the mesh screen in my air box

Finally got to get my truck into the dealer yesterday. The dust cover on the rear dif is the issue for sure. However the dealer cannot order the dust cover, they are replacing the entire rear end. That however is on back order so not sure when it will be fixed. I spryed liquid wrench on it a few weeks ago and it makes almost no noise now.
Hope this thread can help anyone else out, supre frustrating after spending 60k on a truck.

I know this is an old thread, but i thought I'd share my experience with the same issue as OP and TONSOFFON. I had exact same sound as user tonsoffon's video above. Dealer said since there is a physical damage present to the dust shield flange, warranty is not honored. They're charging me $1,500 to replace the dust shield flange assembly.

Revisiting this thread here. I’m almost to 30k miles now. My dealership only slapped some grease on the dust shield at ~200 miles on the odometer and it’s been quiet since. LOTS of rain, mud, dust and logging roads. I’m always waiting for the noise to reappear one day though and am hoping there isn’t any extra damage being done from the part not being replaced. The truck has been “modified” since, so I’m sure if it does become an issue in the future I will be liable for it. Even with the prior paperwork of the issue pre modification at 200 miles.

Sspark, did they give a reason for not covering it? Slap some grease on it

I have a 2021 cm sr5 with about 27k miles. I bought it used at 21k miles bone stock. I do offroad, mostly dirt roads and fire trails, nothing to the extent to create damage on my diff. I added a 3" lift around 23k miles, and right off the bat dealer said I voided any warranty getting fixed for the noise I had. I heard a lot of clicking noise and then the occasional head turning squeal. I figured if it was hit, spraying grease on it wouldn't do much in the long term. Getting truck back on Thursday, I'll update with part #s and exact cost.
