So I have been wanting to do more camping, but with 2 little kids, I am thinking it would be pretty sweet to have a little travel trailer. I been looking at something for less than 15 grand with some nice options and I stumbled on this company, Hiker Trailers.

Their trailers look pretty awesome and seem like they are decent quality for the price. Best part is they are super light and would not have to worry about much towing these with the Tundra.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with this brand?

This is a popular trailer on Overlandbound.com...maybe do a search over there?

I own a 5x9 Extreme Offroad Hiker trailer. I've pulled it with my 2006 Tundra, 2019 Tacoma and now my 2020 Tundra. Today is actually the first time I've pulled it with my new tundra. All the trucks pulled it just fine. let me know if you have questions about it that I can answer.IMG_2609.jpg

Really appreciate the feedback . What made you choose that model? How do you feel about it? How big is your family?

I chose the offroad model because I felt it met the needs of being able to go where I like to camp which is typically outside of campgrounds and off grid. I absolutely love it and would buy again if I had to do it all over. I have added a lot of stuff to it, including a large ARB refrigerator, solar and a portable on demand hot water system for showers. I have 4 people in my family. Myself, wife, 23 year old son and 13 year old daughter. My son is out on his own and when he camps with us he uses his own tent. My daughter will either sleep in a RTT on the truck or in her own tent on the ground. The trailer is ideally for 2 people, although I know some people with smaller kids have had them inside.

yeah I have a 2 and 3 year old and was looking to get the bunk beds. Do you beleive the offroad extreme model is significantly more capable than the mid range or even the mid range xl? I would say I do more moderate offroading/overlanding and was thinking to just get the mid range.

In all honesty, the EOR frame looks to be built way better than the others. But I have no experience with anything other than what I have. One of the big selling points with the EOR for me was the large front tray. That is where I built my custom fridge enclosure.

Nice that is one hell of a setup. Looks as capable as it can be for a trailer. Do you mind sharing how much that set you back from Hiker directly? I was looking to stay under 20k.

I bought it lightly used in 2019 for $10k. It was relatively bare bones, which is exactly what I wanted because I always like to build out the finer details myself.

Sounds like a good deal, the base price right now with nothing added is 12k. I agree about the finer details, they are actually pretty reasonable with pricing on certain options though I found.

Do you do hard rated trails with your trailer or rock crawling? I dont do hard trails and only light rock gardens, trying to guage if the regular mid range would work for me. I think it will.

I don't do anything crazy with it. But I have had it in off camber situations where a large rock could potentially damage the side of the trailer. The offroad model has built in rock sliders that the others don't have.
