    Hey Everyone,

Over the past few weeks I’ve seen some of these little white mushroom like plants growing through the grout / tiles in my shower.

Is this mold? Any ideas to remediate? Should I be concerned / is it harmful?

    thanks for y’all’s help..

Bleach and a specific mold remover/cleaner… remove the grout i that area and let it dry out a few days before using caulk in those corners

Bleach and mold cleaner. That has not seen any cleaner in a good while. I have a rental house also, some people are filthy animals.

when vegetables are growing in the filth it might be time to suggest the tenants hire a cleaner come at least a couple times a month

That should be a sealant joint around the edge anyway. Like others have said, kill the organic growth and cut the grout out (the full depth of the joint) and fill it with a 100% silicone.

Hopefully water isn’t being held in the pan under the tile, that’s a whole other set of issues.

I am In the crawl space now and besides the ground moisture, there is some dry rot but none of the joist are currently wet. Seems like there may of been an overflow in the past that was never addressed.

My guess is the humid TN weather we have is compounding the warm showers and lack of cleaning.

Installing a dehumidifier in the crawl space and going to redo the grout like others have suggested. Maybe install a more powerful exhaust fan

If there is that much growth there, it is time to do a renovation. If there is enough mold/mildew to provide a base for mushrooms to grow, you have most likely have moisture behind the surface.
I dealt with toxic black mold at our barracks at Ft Bragg, nasty stuff.

Wire the (oversized) exhaust fan to the light so it has to come on. Get that moisture out of there.

A couple of sprays of this and that'll clear up. Weekly sprays will keep it from returning.
