We have a 22’ Nash that is 4500 lbs dry. It pulls pretty okay without a WDH, with the WDH and spring bars i hardly notice it.

My camper fully loaded is around 7.5-8k, I pulled it across the country for work. No issues whatsoever. I just keep it in tow haul mode and S4. It keeps the trans temps down and keeps you in that sweet spot for the torque curve. I run 70-75mph most of the time, and occasionally 80mph if the road and traffic conditions are good. Get a good WDH and adjust your trailer brake controller, you'll be good to go!

Don't trust anything the dealer (camper or truck) says.

Look at your payload (yellow sticker on door), tow capacity, GVWR, axle weight ratings, and decide for yourself.

    Hitch weight counts against payload.

Seems like lots of Tundra owners with larger trailers are at or over capacity ... it is up to you to decide how much is too much.

Did you upgrade your trailer tires for those speeds? Most trailer tires aren't rated that high and can overheat. Just asking so OP knows to do way more research than just asking on a forum.

I haven't replaced them. The PO put new tires on it before I got it. I forget which brand, but they're name brand tires. Haven't had any issues yet in the many thousands of miles I've put on it.

Sure it is. I’ve towed 7k before, and with a properly set up WDH and brake controller it towed fine at 65-70 mph. I’m not comfortable doing that on a routine basis, and that drove what we bought for a trailer.

It’s certainly worth checking the sidewall to see what the speed rating is.
