We’ve been looking to potentially get something a little sturdier for my wild child GSP. He’s currently in a clam shell type kennel but he hops around in there when he’s mad and essentially moves his kennel. We’ve done some research and we favor Gunner but those things are $$$. What do you use and what are your rants and raves about it?

Mine would hurt himself or Houdini his way out of wire, I need something sturdy. He’s little for his breed but full of spunk.

We have a aluminum military kennel. Works damn good when needed.

At the house I use full stalls 4x4 interior w/5 x 10 exterior runs. But, I have a MIM Safe Variocage that we bought to use in our 4Runner (which has since been sold). Anyhow the Variocage is one of only a few crash rated SUV style crates. The unit I have is the "double max" and comes w/a partition if you want to run 2 separate kennels or you can leave the partition out and make it a single unit. It has locking doors and is adjustable in size....

I've attached the spec sheet which gives you specific dimensions and its adjustment range.

00369 Double Max is the unit I have... If you have a sequoia, I'd imagine it would make a great vehicle kennel and you could always use it in your home when you don't need it in the vehicle. The unit is about 110lbs, so it's quite sturdy. 4x4 North America currently has them on sale for $1749 shipped. I'm not sure where you live, but if you don't mind a used one I'd be happy to try and work something out w/you if you prefer not to pay new pricing...

I got my gunner used on eBay. Think I paid around 600 for the largest one they make. Customer service is really good if you ever need anything. Didn’t have one of the handles and they shipped me one for free just paid for the shipping charge. My 90 pound dog barely fits in it but she’s comfortable even when we aren’t taking road trips. Plus if you ever want to add accessories down the line they have a huge list of parts you can add.
