On my previous three trucks, which were all F-150s, I had Toyo Open Country A/Ts, then Nitto Terra Grapplers, and after that I’ve always gone with the BFGoodrich A/Ts, which I now have on my Tundra in OE size. The Toyos lasted a long time (I think I got almost 80k out of them), but the Nittos did better in the sand out in the forest. Unfortunately I only got about 50k miles out of those. The best all around by far has been the BFG KOs, they do great in rain and sand, and seem to wear evenly and last over 60k. And now I especially like them even more because of the more aggressive sidewall.

I’m actually thinking of going up in size, and I was going to go with BFGs like I always seem to, but the Wrangler Duratracs sure are appealing. I think I’m nervous to move away from the BFGs because I am confident in them and familiar with their reliability. I drive in a lot of loose sand, slick boat ramps, and it rains here all the time. Any reason why the Duratracs would be a bad choice when compared to the BFGs? Should I just stick with what’s tried and true?

Love a good tire thread. Have had Toyo M/T, awful in the winter, scary bad on compact snow/ice. Noisy as hell as they wear, like most M/T tires I suppose. Unless I had a true off road vehicle I'll never run a M/T again.

Big fan of K02. Over 20k miles on them, good wear, awesome in the winter. Good looking tire. Plan on buying them again when it's time.

I can't say enough about KO2s. I have used bfgs on about 5 vehicles, some multiple sets, and currently on my tundra. I have never had a single issue in any way including punctures. They are just a great frickin tire in any and all situations. Just today I was going through a snow and ice covered trail, tires steady and sticky, while a pack of 3 jeeps were slippin and sliding all over themselves with their MTs. I honestly believe the ko2 are the closest to a perfect tire as you can get for a price a normal person can afford.

Found a pretty good deal on Yokohama Geolander MTs. Getting them mounted tomorrow morning. Great looking tires. We'll see how much the noise bothers me.

I had awful experiences with KO2s. At around 20k miles, they turned hard and slick and their wet pavement traction became actually terrifying. Their tread pattern was also nearly incapable of clearing thicker mud. Just goes to show that there are widely varying experiences with the same tires.

I think these threads end up being less fruitful than the person asking for opinions was hoping for.

Ya any kind of opinion thread is pretty much the same way. I'm surprised by your experience but it's possible you got a questionable set of tires.
I will say that thick mud would be rough but any AT would struggle with that. That scenario is literally why MTs were invented lol. Luckily I'm on west coast which I will admit seems a better environment for any AT to excel.

I love them so much. Ignore all the pinestraw. Need to get the blower out this week. So far, the noise doesn't bother me at all. I can't even hear it with the windows up and music playing.

Put over 50k on a set of Ridge Grapplers-they started getting noisy towards the end, but they rode great and I never had an issue with them. I wanted to replace them with something lighter but may end up with another set of RGs.

My experience was matched by lots of people on the 4Runner forum (t4r.org). There are some big threads about it. Lots of hypotheses—BFG changed the rubber compound, for example—but many echoed the night and day difference at around 20-25k miles. It’s like the tires just got hard. :notsure: I do think KO2s absolutely shine in the Southwest, especially in desert conditions.

As far as other ATs, I agree they don’t clear mud as much as an MT obviously, but the tight deep tread of the KO2 is obnoxiously bad. If I need an off road tire where I am, I prefer one that sort of blurs the line between AT and MT. That’s why I love the Duratracs so much (another tire people have widely varying opinions on lol). I’m rotating them every 3k miles to help them wear as evenly as possible and keep them from getting noisy. I’m at 18k miles. So far so good.

I just ordered a set of 295/60r20 Toyo ATIII's that will be installed in about a week. I'm very excited to see how these tires preform, especially in winter weather since I'm in Western NY. I will be sure to post pics and give an honest review once I get them on.

I’ve got 20,000 miles on some Ridge Grappler 35x12.50x17s, so far they are mostly very good. Highway ride is a little stiffer than the stock street tires, noise is noticeable but not too bad, it wouldn’t deter me from another set. Highway speed cornering, curvy mountain roads is confident and firm, very good for such a tall tire with open tread. So far rain traction and hydroplaning seem fine, nothing to get excited or worried about. They’re heavy and gas mileage is poor, but acceleration doesn’t seem affected too much. Offroad so far is excellent. High speed grated road and corner sliding is firm and confident, lateral traction confident. Deep snow, powder, slush, sand, light mud, all very excellent. Snowpack and icy roads so far seems very good. I’m not a mudder or rock crawler so I don’t have any time with them on that stuff. Wear seems pretty good at 20k miles I expect to get at least 40-50k out of them, which is fine for me. The only downsides I have found so far: heavy, poor mpg, but I think you trade that off for firm confident handling and cornering. After a long road trip in the mountains I’ve had some cupping a couple of times, it has smoothed out some after a rotation and alignment. To be fair one of the trips I’m fairly certain I knocked it out of alignment on a trail and drove home 500 miles on 100 degree highway with the toe and camber out of spec. Overall these tires have been excellent. I usually like trying different tires every time I replace a set but it’s going to be hard for me to want to try anything else after these. Possibly a ko2 if anything.

I’ve had a set of these on my tundra(285/75/18) for six months now. Very pleased with them! Great in the snow/wet, quiet for an A/T, and seem to be wearing well with over 5k miles on them so far. I put them right in line with the KO2’s if not slightly better. I’m sure you’ll be pleased with them!

I got them installed and have put about 500 miles on them so far and absolutely LOVE them! We have had pretty bad weather this past week (about 18" of snow on and off) and they preform great in packed snow, ice, slush, etc. Haven't been in any deep snow yet but I am very impressed so far to say the least. And I love the way they look, truck looks so badass now. I am also surprised how quite they are at highway speeds. Highly highly recommend. Here is a few pics.

They did great! As good if not better than the BFG KO2’s. The biggest thing that I noticed is that they are really good at evacuating the snow. The treads were not packed full of snow. Most of the winter driving for me this year was in the hard packed stuff or just a few of inches of powder (6” or less). I didn’t get the chance to take them out in the deep stuff. I was confident enough in them that I only had to put the truck in 4 hi a few times during my 50 mile round trip commute to work. I like them enough that I would buy another set or buy a set for my wife’s SUV.

In my opinion the General Grabber line does not get nearly enough love on the boards. Had a set of the ATs on my 09 Crewmax for over 5 years and 60K. Probably had another 10K to go in them when I traded it. Did pretty much everything well or at least decently. A little hum but otherwise the best value I ever found in an AT after running Toyos and AT REvos on different trucks. Aggressive tread, snow rated and great in all conditions.

A salesman pushed them on me in place of something they didn't carry and swore I'd be amazed at what I got for price. I was, and my Ford will get a set of whatever the most current General Grabber version is in a couple years.

Great tire in the snow, but they suck just as much as a KO2 n mud.

Alright guys, have a set of GEOLANDAR G003 MT tires ordered and will have them mounted in the next couple of weeks.
I will be reporting back to how they are compared to my current KO2s, KO2s in size 315/70r17 and GEOLANDAR in 35x12.5x17.

Hopefully the noise isn't too big of a deal and the winter traction isn't going to be horrible.

So far so good for the Cooper rugged treks. I’ve had ko2’s, wildpeaks (great tire) and duratracs (worst tires I’ve ever had) and wanted to try something else. Quiet and look good, interested to see how they do in snow.

I’m waffling between these, Rugged Treks, and Kenda R/T for my next set.

How is the road noise? Was it easy to balance? I'm debating between these and Falken Wildpeak AT3W. Never had MT BOSS AT but currently have AT3W's on my GX.

He told me it’s not loud at all and I have no idea about balancing. I’ve had at3w’s in the past and they are excellent. These look way more aggressive.
