Yeah it’s my fault for not getting pictures. He said he picked it up at an auction in Vegas. I don’t know where he actually got it but it’s originally from New Jersey. With 37k miles and near perfect exterior I stupidly didn’t even think of asking for underbody pics. Bought on auto trader from Kansas car finder dealership. It was shipped straight to me and never even made it to the dealership according to him, since I bought it the day of or day after it was posted.

That's some crazy stuff. Wonder what kind of legal action you can take (if any). Good luck to ya.

This will be a good thread to link to when people ask about a truck they want to look at.

Is it just the frame? That frame looks old, i wonder if its original or did someone use it as a frame swap for their truck

If I can't drive it, I don't buy it. I would never buy a truck sight unseen for this very reason. Too many a$$hats taking advantage of people for "internet sales" of vehicles like this. You are screwed and you know why. Lesson learned, do your research!!!!
I cannot sympathize with stupidity. (assuming that the shiny cover and flashing low mileage represents the whole condition of the vehicle) It's not right what happened, but you most likely will not have any recourse. I'm sure based on what has happened, that you didn't read the conditions of the sale, and you were exactly the type of buyer they were hoping to sucker punch with this horrendous piece of shit truck you bought. Lesson to all... Know what you are buying before you send the cash!

37K miles? How is this possible? Used it's entire life on the Jersey Shores? Is there a VIN stamped into the frame? Any chance to odometer isn't reflecting the actual mileage? Any evidence of shenanigans may allow you to get your money back.

I’m brainstorming trying to find a discrepancy. The seller is supposedly seeing if the auction place he got it from can do something. But I think I know how thats going to go. Idk what to do.

Depending on the conditions of your sale, you may have every right to refuse to accept that vehicle. There are some basic responsibilities of the selling party. There are also responsibilities of the purchasing party. I would comb through not just the paperwork you were provided, but also the legal side of both the sellers state and your purchasing state. Legal help may even be warranted rather than just eating what used to be a standard used car sham deal that there are many laws now in place to prevent. Good luck OP. Nice looking truck, aside from the cancerous back bone.

I second this, look at the camber bolts, subfame brand new, got a VIN #? something dodgy's going on with this truck, that's not the frame for that cab.

In all honesty if that truck was down the NJ shore the mileage maybe very accurate. My FIL’s F150 has less than 25k mileage (2010) and has zero clear coat left on anything. Everything is pitted and he does all his own work. All the repairs he has done were all rust related not wear. The owner may have taken care of the body but neglected the underbelly. Personally after seeing what salt water does to vehicles, I would only lease if I lived by a shore.

That dealership should be the one holding the bag here. They can’t sell that truck, it’s unsafe for road use. Not buying the whole “we bought it auction and never laid eyes on it but sold it to someone else with good feels about doing so.” B.S.

In most states, dealers have some responsibility for any vehicle they sell. Them saying they sold it "sight unseen" is irrelevant. Unless you bought it as a wholesale purchase... in which case, all bets are off.

Regardless. I'd look into things quickly though because a buyer's recourse options can be limited by time. (like 7 days, 15 days, 30 days) It would suck to find out on day 8 that you had 7 days to return it.

Is this the Kansas Car Finder you're referring to?https://www.kansascarfinder.com/

The site lists 21 Tundras, 15 of them sold including your beauty. Most 1st Gens, many 100K miles or less, including a 21K mile RCLB. This dealer appears to have a good eye for what is selling now.
    https://www.kansascarfinder.com/car...&Mileage=&SoldStatus=AllVehicles&StockNumber=

    About the dealer...
I’m a fairly new dealer and do this as a side job/hobby. All my friends come to me for vehicles so I decided to become a licensed dealer. I have little overhead, so you can save some money if there’s a vehicle I have you like. I can also find vehicles for you. If you email me what you're looking for with Make, Model and Price range, I can email you pictures and an est price for that particular vehicle. I don't do finance, so please have that arranged. I don't do the buy here pay here thing either. Sorry. All vehicles are priced cash and you will have to pay taxes and fees as well. Please call or text, but please understand that this is a hobby and I may not be able to answer right away. I can arrange an appointment, even on Sundays. Just let me know what time works, and I'll try to make it happen. I hope you have a pleasant day. call/text Diane or John from Kansas Car Finder LLC @ 785-995-3062 SEVEN EIGHT FIVE NINE NINE FIVE THREE ZERO SIX TWO

It seems like Diane or John are reasonable people and wouldn't want to sell a broken car.

I'd give them a call but would also call a lawyer to learn about what you can reasonably expect out of this situation.

The dealer's ad for this truck...
"coming soon! 1 owner, 0 accident Tundra!"
    https://www.kansascarfinder.com/details/used-2005-toyota-tundra/83841102

OP, I suggest getting screen shots of the dealer's ad. They may offer something of interest to a lawyer. At least they show what the dealer said they were selling.

    Good luck.

Hopefully you don't need to, but you could always tell them that social media has the potential to quickly destroy their reputation. Even more so, with the unsolid solid evidence in your possession.

Yup, @wyoboypt create an account here and register with the VIN: https://www.toyota.com/owners/register

Any work done at a dealer will show up on here. Someone DIY'ing their own work or an independent shop will not show up unless they manually put it on the website themselves.

He says he’s going to contact the arbitrator tmw when they’re open to see if they will do something about it. Says it’s basically up to them if they want to take it back or do anything. Not sure what the next step after that will be.
