Hi.. I'm active over in TacomaWorld but working on something that benefits the Tundra/LC/Sequoia/T4R/LX/GX crowd.

I'm looking for someone in the NorCal South Bay (Sunnyvale area) with a 2UZ-FE 4.7L VVTi V8 vehicle that can help test a set of aftermarket performance vvti solenoids on their truck.

Would like an owner who tracks their fuel economy like religion, comfortable turning a wrench, and ideally, has had their truck dyno-tested in the past (but not a requirement).

Please contact me if you're interested. Thank you!

What's the benefit of a performance vvti solenoid?

Welcome! I’m in Sunnyvale but not in the truck you need.

In the 1GRFE 4.0L V6, the manufacturer made claims of improved drivabilty and mpg along with better performance (hp, etc).

I was on the fence thinking it's snake oil, but also knew that conceptually, it would work as manipulating valve timing (lift/dur) has been done since back in the early/mid 90s honda vtec days.

The TW guys (I'm one of them) procured a pair for the 1GRFE and installed on a supercharged truck (in Benicia, CA), datalogged, and dynotested.

Results were extremely favorable but arguably inconclusive. The owner of the Tacoma with these solenoids still advocates about their benefits (mpg too) and isn't planning on removing them anytime soon.

Because of this, my involvement with the solenoids and Tacomas got more direct. We started a GB and I'm the point person for TW and the vendor. We've had major challenges and roadblocks in the last 5 months but hope to complete the GB shortly.

Why am I here on tundras.com?

I have in my hands a set of these vvti solenoids but for the 4.7L V8. Looking for a local test truck to help substantiate the benefits of these solenoids for this platform by tracking, logging, testing.....or prove that it does nothing and should be tossed in the bin.

    :D
