Reviving an old thread. I sold my hobie outback kayak and bought a SUP. the kayak wasn't getting enough use and was taking up valuable garage space. I've used SUP's before but I'm definitely not a pro. I have a pontoon boat so I can bring the sup along and use the boat as my mother ship. Just need the water to warm up a bit before I fall in. Does anyone else fish from their SUP?

Have you used inflatable ones before?

I am not a small guy but I have paddle boarded with the hard style and it is so much better than the inflatable ones. To the point where I sold the inflatable since I never felt comfortable on it. I couldn’t imagine fishing on one.

disclaimer: I know the PSI is critical in them and I ensured it was to spec but still had trouble

I've used both. I used a rented inflatable on vacation once and didn't like it. I used my friends bote inflatable and it felt like a rigid board. That's why I went with bote. We shall see.

Good deal just wanted to make sure. The inflatable is the way to go. I was disappointed it didn’t work for me. They don’t pay for returns so I just went with a solid since I knew it for sure was going to work

Nope it was one that had solid reviews but it was RetroSpec

Called them and told them the issue and that I am not a beginner and the customer service person basically told me I could send it back for 1/3 of the cost of it but I would be better off selling it. Kind of BS @Njmike13

I enjoy my inflatable ones. Much easier to store and pack in the truck. It is a little less stable than a same size hard one but you just have to get used to it.
I have fished from it a little bit. No issues or worries about puncturing it.

Stumbled on this thread a few weeks ago, I have been paddle boarding in the past a few times always enjoyed in. Running a RTT on my tundra I wasn't sure how I would be able to travel with paddle boards, luckily finding this thread and all the options out there I pulled the trigger on a ROC SUP ( with 4,800 reviews and 4.8 stars on Amazon figured I couldn't go wrong). Took it out for the maiden voyage yesterday and had a great time on the lake.

Does anyone use an inflatable surf SUP board? I’m wanting to use it to go crabbing in SF bay.

We have Sea Eagles. I think my board is around 12’. I weigh 210 and I can easily paddle with my dog (65 lbs).

Inflatables are great if you are limited on storage. In addition, the logistics are a lot easier when you’re hauling mountain bikes, SUPs, and a camp trailer.

SUP are the best. We have two Isle Versa SUP, a 10'5 and 11'2 for cruising. I also have 10' Focus for surfing. Isle are pretty affordable boards and have lasted a long time.

My garage height is literally a couple inches above my Tundra, so I need something to secure my SUP in the short bed of a 2018 Tundra TRD CrewMax Limited. What do you all suggest?

We put one on the water for the first time this weekend. We are using a body glove inflatable from Costco. I think my kids are hooked -

Ok so I have power at the truck, but really need to know the best and fastest way inflate a paddle board and an inflatable fun island. I’d like a decent compressor that can really do the work but is portable enough it’s not a nuisance or take a ton of space. Small but has to do the job. Any suggestions?

Costco Body Glove SUP's here too.

Not being a fan of the cold depths of the abyss, mine is pretty much just for show.

Hello everyone! I'm thrilled to announce that I just bought my first inflatable (hooray!). Unfortunately, I've only been able to use it twice because manually inflating it each time has been incredibly tiring and exhausting. I'm wondering if anyone has any firsthand experience with electric pumps, specifically the Outdoor Master Shark. I would greatly appreciate it if you could kindly share your thoughts and personal experiences regarding this product. Thank you in advance!

I imagine that it works well. We use a much cheaper unit for one board and the arb in the truck. Never had any issues pumping multiple boards with a lesser priced unit that seems to flow less

I have the Body Glove SUPs from Costco. Their hand pumps are super efficient in filling up gobs of air on both the down stroke, and upstroke of their hand pump.

When I get it filled to around 10psi, I break out my cordless HART air inflator (currently $34 at Walmart, without battery).
    https://www.walmart.com/ip/HART-20-...-Included/169558626?athbdg=L1600&from=/search

These electric inflators are good, but inflates in smaller amounts at a time. It's much faster to use a hand pump at first, and then finish off with the electric one.

I know only 2 things about these:

    1. My fat old ass will never get on one.

    2. There is no greater entertainment than sitting by the rental dock while fishing and drinking beer than watching people who have never tried these (most, like myself, a little, well, unathletic) trying to use one. It's great people watching and you can even make bets on how long until they lose it.

We started with a 10'5 ISLE Versa (hard board) that has been pretty good. Super stable..I think it's around 178L so it floats one adult and a little kid well. Once we all liked it we added an ISLE Explorer 11' something and around 248L. I would get one of these (or something equivalent) in size if you want to fish or chill.

I recently decided to get into Wing Foiling. So far I've only used the wing on the SUP (you need to get an add on daggerboard or equivalent to keep yourself rom getting blown straight down wind) but the SUPs were useful for that.

Now I'm learning to paddle on my 125L Naish Wing Foil board, which is a very different animal. It illustrated that despite paddle boarding for years, I actually SUCK at paddling. When you get on a shorter board if your J or reverse J strokes are not optimal you just spin in circles, haha.

Standley Lake is closest to me (NW Denver) and there are no power public power boats on there. Its pretty nice as its all paddle craft and some electric fishing boats.
