Shooting the dogs in that situation is very wrong.

Now, if you are being attacked by loose dogs, all bets are off.

Wonder if this guy had a grievance with the dogs or owner or both?

Dogs running loose off leash not fenced in is a big no no, and those dogs are big and strong.

If I lived there with my wife and kids, we would have a serious problem.

I grew up with many dogs and have had many pets over the years.

SO MANY dog owners these days have no business owning one at all.
A dog is only as good as it's training, and very very few are properly trained if at all.
Dumbass owners everywhere by the millions.
As an animal owner, you are responsible for the animal's behavior and its actions, same as any dangerous weapon.

Several years back we had a young woman get torn apart in the woods by her own pitbulls, found dead later by her father.
    Awful stuff.
Some dogs need to be banned due to the damage we have done to them genetically with abuse and selective breeding.
There are some real monsters out there, people and animals.

I have punted a dog 10 yards into a pond for biting me in the crotch back when I was a teenager fishing a pond in some apartments.
Left the owner standing there dumbstruck, don't know if the dog lived or not, I walked away cussing holding my inner thigh.
    Never saw either one again.

Either way, this guy sucks, it's not the dog's fault for how its trained, or not.

Poor fluffy wuffy :(, Dogs are the most friendliest creatures around. If your not a bad person doing bad things a dog won't attack.

(Rot) I've petted scary looking dogs that where loss and chasing grown men. I just talked to it in puppy talk and straight approached it after I put my palm out for it to sniff it just stared me straight in face and as I reached to pet it, it turned and ran back home .
(Pit) I went to a new friends house at the time that two pits and one was known to be aggressive around new people I was warned well this pit decided it wanted to lay on my lap be petted  my new friend was shocked and so was everyone else that knew the dog. Maybe I'm a dog whisperer :eek2:

    This is dangerously naive.

Many dogs nowadays are not properly trained or socialized.
Every brainless jackass and jillass has them and half of them are stronger then their owners.
Especially in ghetto areas with certain owners who abuse them.

A dog is the same as any animal, unpredictable and potentially dangerous, always use extreme caution with unknown animals.

I sure hope there’s more to this story.

I mean, I WILL say this - I live where there’s a lot of cattle nearby, and it’s just sort of understood that if your dog starts “running cattle” (trying to take one down to kill or hurt them), YOUR dog will likely be taken down…but at least there, there’s a reason for it. Otherwise someone has some ‘splainin to do.

    This is not the way...

If your animal is loose (off leash and no fence collar) they will NOT behave as expected. They are still animals, it's not their fault, it's the owner's. I mtn bike on shared hiking trails a lot and it infuriates me when people walk their dogs on the shared bike trails without leashes and think nothing will ever happen. As a responsible biker I always slow down to a walking pace or even stop completely to yield to hikers. I'll ask them to leash the dog and they just laugh. (there is a massive fenced in, open field, town sanctioned Dog park as part of the same trail system, so it's not like they can't let the dog run free there) The problem is owners think their dogs are perfect and "will never bite anybody" BULLSHIT !!!!
If I'm riding a bike in the woods, come around a corner and there's an off leash dog... It's going to be startled. I'm a stranger to the dog and coming out of nowhere like a bear will frighten them. They will instinctively want to protect thier owner and I become another victim of an irresponsible owner's dog biting someone. I've been bit 3 times by dogs that "never did that before" But it just did!..
The point is it was not the dog's fault. There's been many times where the same situation will happen but the dog is on leash and the owner has no problem controlling the dog, and there is no issue.
If you own a dog, be responsible and train them properly and train yourself as well to expect the unexpected when dealing with an animal and strangers.
But driving up to a house and openly shooting the dog is just stupid. His Tundra needs to be repossessed, he is an embarrassment to our Creed!

I’ve had some run ins with dog owners on trails as well. Since 1997 in CO:

    - Two dogs have been hit, one made rider crash broke wrist. The dog was put down. She had a broken back and no way to transport out. Other time the dog was injured and ran off.

    - Several friends have been chased mountain biking.

    - A pack of wild dogs killed a buddies Lab when out jeeping/hiking. He didn’t have his pistol on him. Later on he stated that was a mistake. He was injured as well but made it back to his Jeep. Dog saved his life. From what he had to watch, that most likely was the case. Pretty sure they were starving.

    - While riding SW of Denver, a buddy and I had to stop on a trail. His bike was having issues. We did not notice a couple and a black lab mix (pit) sitting off the trail under a tree. As we were working on his bike the dog came over and started being aggressive. We asked the owners to restrain the dog. They laughed and said the typical “he doesn’t bite so don’t worry about it” bullshit. Well he ended up biting my friend in the calf and nipped me in the hand. They still didn’t do anything about it. They did do something about it when a weapon came out though. I gave them a few seconds to restrain their dog before I was going to put it down.

Just this past week when walking in our neighborhood a dog came up and confronted us as we were walking. Kilo handled it rather quickly. Later on I walked back over to see if their dog was ok. She had some puncture wounds and they apologized and asked how our dog was. He got nicked on the ear a little. No big deal. It was a good experience for my daughter to see and why I told her some pepper spray is never a bad thing to keep on her outside of our property.

I’m a dog lover…but I’ve had some run ins with dogs that should have made me feel otherwise.

Absolutely. I remember an incident at a Nashville dog park several years ago. There was a Husky that apparently wasn't socialized very well, and it lashed out and bit a dog that got too close to it. I don't remember what kind of dog got bit, but it started yelping and crying like it was about to die. There was a little bit of blood on its flank, and in a matter of about 30 seconds, a large group of nearby dogs became aggressive, surrounded the wounded dog, and started biting it. It was amazing how quickly they reverted to predators. And it was all because one dog started crying like a wounded prey animal. I distinctly remember a Golden Retriever and a couple of Labs in the fray, biting the wounded dog. Their owners had NO CLUE their dogs could act like that.

We learned in obedience training that our dog likes to run really fast pretending he's prey so the other dogs will chase him.
